Associate Recruiter (Contract)

Bluebird Bio, Inc.
Remote or Cambridge, MA
On January 11, 2021, we announced our intent to separate our severe genetic disease and oncology businesses into differentiated and independent publicly traded companies. We will retain focus on severe genetic disease (SGD) and will launch our oncology business ("Oncology Newco") as a new entity, with the completed transition expected by the end of 2021.
ABOUT THE NEST

At bluebird, only two things matter - patients and our people. When you join the nest, you're not just landing a new gig, you become a part of a flock that's soaring to new heights. We're 1100+ doers, thinkers and collaborators across the globe with a strong sense of our values and our purpose. Our innovation and sustainability are rooted in the diversity of our teams and results are achieved through cooperation and the incorporation of multiple points of view. This is personal and we approach every challenge with radical care. The time is now to rise up and recode the science, the systems, and the status quo.

Associate Recruiter (Contract)

This role can be fully remote and is for a 12-month contract.

ABOUT THE FLOCK

The Talent Acquisition flock is all about working as a team to provide the support and tools for our birds to do their jobs better! Whether it's making sure top talent is getting hired, our birds are afforded exciting development opportunities or supporting the goals of our businesses, we are driven by being bold and working hard. Come work with a flockin' awesome group of recruiters that loves rising to the challenge much as we do.

HOW YOU'LL FLY

As an Associate Recruiter bird, reporting to the Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition, you'll help to bring more patients their bluebird days by:

* Driving end-to-end recruiting lifecycle support for our SGD businesses.
* Providing recruitment process support and challenging the status quo by working with data and technology to drive efficiency while demonstrating a personalized, world-class, human touch to our candidates.
* Helping to fulfill exciting business needs and goals of the various business functions and sub-functions within bluebird bio's SGD operation.
* Successfully attracting, identifying, and hiring top talent while helping build diverse teams.
* Other related tasks as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

You're the bird we're looking for if you:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
* Have demonstrated experience in end-to-end recruiting; biotech or pharmaceutical experience is nice to have but not required.
* Are passionate about providing world-class experience and service to all candidates - not just those who earn employment at bluebird bio. Adept at building, sourcing, maintaining, and matriculating candidate pipelines and are comfortable speaking to multiple candidates on various roles every week.
* Have used an ATS (this is a requirement)! We use Greenhouse here, but experience with any ATS will do!
* Experience sourcing passive candidates - have you used CRMs, your own ATS, LinkedIn, or something else? Great! Talk to us beyond the "post & pray" method.
* Can build relationships. Hiring candidates is important, but we can't do that without buy-in and partnership within the nest - you'll be working with hiring teams to learn their day-to-day and will, in turn, work to find the newest additions to their flocks!
* Previous experience with fast paced environments where priorities shift and change. You find it fun and stimulating to juggle tasks and don't like to be bored. Proven track record of juggling multiple priorities with shifting timelines is essential!
* Solid understanding of all things Microsoft - Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
* Excellent organizational skills! You'll be working on roles in different areas of our organization and will constantly be at different stages of each…you should be comfortable fixing the airplane midflight.
* A cheerful, team oriented and can-do attitude. When things are moving fast and everything changes, a smile and a friendly attitude go a long way.

All our birds embrace the principles of the bluebird bio culture: b colorful, b cooperative, b yourself.

bluebird bio is deeply committed to fostering an environment where diversity and inclusion are not only valued, but prioritized. We believe a diverse and inclusive community empowers us to act courageously, care deeply, and dream boldly to impact people in big ways. Diverse viewpoints bring diverse capabilities which strengthen our focus and fuel our growth.

bluebird is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, veteran status or any other applicable legally protected characteristics.

5 Common Career Paths For a Recruiter Associate

Recruiter

Recruiters are responsible for filling up vacancies in the organization. They put up job postings on the company website and other recruitment websites, screen applicants, prospective schedule candidates for interviews, conduct initial interviews, and, should candidates pass the initial interview, endorse them to hiring managers. They act as guides to applicants throughout the whole application process. Upon successful screening and interviewing of applicants, recruiters then guide them through the employment process, usually endorsing them to medical exams and other pre-employment requirements needed. At times, recruiters are responsible for providing job offers to applicants. Recruiters should have a good judge of character, decision-making skills, and interpersonal skills.

Human Resources Coordinator

A human resources coordinator is responsible for cooperating with the company's human resources department, supporting its processes and procedures, and assisting with employees' concerns. Human resources coordinators' duties include maintaining business files and employees' records, processing documents and submitting required reports, administering background checks for the recruitment process, reviewing and referring to company's handbook for corrective action and performance review, scheduling meetings and facilitating events, and advising effective strategies to human resources management. A human resources coordinator requires excellent communication and employee-relation skills to support the company's daily operations.

Recruiting Coordinator

A recruiting coordinator's tasks include posting job vacancies, coordinating candidate travel, setting up schedules for interviews and handling last-minute scheduling changes, preparing offer letters, and conducting background checks on aspirants. The coordinator assists in the company's recruiting and talent acquisition procedures and strategies by hiring job-seekers to fill in vacant positions and to supply the company's workforce needs and goals. To be effective, he/she should have excellent communication skills and intimate knowledge about hiring best practices to be able to attract aspirants.

Technical Recruiter

The primary role of technical recruiters is to look for candidates who will fill the technical jobs in different areas such as engineering and information technology. Their roles and responsibilities also include devising or writing job specifications and descriptions, assessing and interviewing job candidates, and representing the company at campus events and job fairs. There are several qualifications to become a technical recruiter that include excellent communication skills, proficiency with MS Office, and experience in using customer relationship management software.

Corporate Recruiter

A corporate recruiter is responsible for identifying potential candidates to fill in a position within the company by closely coordinating with the department managers for their specific requirements and qualifications. Corporate recruiters update the company's online job board, as well as posting job hiring to several online platforms. They carefully screen the applicants' credentials and set interview appointments to the chosen candidates. A corporate recruiter helps successful applicants with processing their requirements and provides them with instructions for onboarding.
