More and more companies are offering subscriptions for their service. From movie theater subscriptions and Netflix to diet plans and magazine subscriptions, most everyone has either a monthly or annual fee they're paying. While it's an easy and simple way to pay for a service, on the flip side it's entirely too complex for companies to manage internally. Or at least it was too complex until Recurly entered. The platform this company offers provides infrastructure, tools and business analytics that are critical to managing and scaling recurring revenue and subscription billing operations.
"At Recurly, we are always seeking new and more efficient ways of getting work done. Solving complex problems and incremental improvement is in our DNA. We encourage collaboration on innovative ideas and new methods, experiment often, and debrief on the results. This cycle uncovers insights that drive efficiency and effectiveness," said Stacey Snyder, Director of Quality Assurance. The team of Recurlians are known as being smart, professional and energetic. They work hard together to produce a meaningful product and then celebrate when they succeed.
Diving Into the Values at Recurly
The team at Recurly holds each other accountable for helping customers to the best of their abilities. They learn to narrow their focus to what matters most. They always are finding ways to improve the product and the processes they use every day. And while they may voice their opinions, they do so respectfully and understand there are always 2 sides to everything. All of these qualities boil down to the core values that every team member lives by at Recurly. These values are:
The Culture at Recurly
Giving Back with No Restraints
Every day around the Recurly you'll notice something that's very consistent: team collaboration. With Be Mindful as one of the company's core values, colleagues are always respectful while working with one another. The company believes that collaborative work is the key to success. It doesn't matter if they're working on a project together or coming together to raise money to purchase a gaming laptop for LGBTQ+ youth, Recurlians always work together.
This generous spirit is woven directly into the fabric at Recurly. The team regularly participates in volunteer and donation events throughout each year. During the holiday season around December Recurly partners with A Precious Child. The non-profit organization helps families who are facing tough home situations. In addition, Recurly partners with Out Boulder County around the same time to help purchase holiday gifts for LGBTQ+ youth.
The giving spirit doesn't just end with the holiday season though. The company partners with Boulder Parks and Recreation to plant seeds, weed gardens and mend fences at least once a year. Additionally, Recurlians support the engineering community by attending Turn IN Insight Hour, an event that prepares job seekers for the industry.
"I was looking to be part of an environment where I could feel like I was actively contributing to something while at the same time challenging myself," said Rafi Yagudin, Senior Support Engineer at Recurly. "I also think that the people in Recurly are what make it so great, I'm definitely surrounded by people that are smarter than I am which I feel like ultimately makes me a better person."
The Team at Recurly
A Reliable Team
Recurlians are some of the most mindful, passionate people you'll meet. But their drive for success is something that is instilled in them when they arrive at Recurly. "The most challenging -- and rewarding! -- part of my job is getting team members across multiple departments aligned on our vision and how we reach it so that we can inspire our teams," said Emma Clark, Chief of Staff. "We are most enabled and motivated when we are all working together towards a big, well-articulated and inspiring goal. It's a continuous work in progress, but it's so important for keeping us motivated and connected."
With the ReCharge committee, employees are able to make suggestions on how to enhance the company's culture. Past suggestions included events, volunteering opportunities and even office environment improvements. The company has even been adding employee engagement surveys so employees have an outlet for feedback that's accessible. The surveys return responses focused on what could be better with leadership, communications and social impact.
The Office at Recurly
Be Responsible for Your Work Environment's Identity
The Recurly office is located in Boulder, Colorado just 2 blocks from the Pearl Street Mall. The office space fosters collaboration, creativity and wellness. The office identity was entirely chosen by the team members. They get to decide what types of volunteer events the company participates in, as well as what social events the team gets to enjoy. "It's been a lot of fun helping the new office take shape. Building your own desk and picking out office snacks beats a cube farm any day," said Joe Siewert, Senior Support Engineer.
The Benefits at Recurly
Where Life Outside Work is Relevant
If you want to have an excellent work-life balance, then look no farther. With work from home and unlimited PTO policies in place, you'll have plenty of time to have a life outside of work.
"At Recurly we have a work hard, get shit done and live your life mentality," said Ross Hosman, Head of Information Security.
The company supports company-wide events to build strong bonds between colleagues. In the Boulder office, the team started a culture of "Wednesday Night Camping." Finding a spot within 20-30 minutes in the mountains, the team camps out for the night. "They come back the next morning with awesome pics and stories," said Clark. "It's a great way to make new friends in the office and have a nice mid-week break to look forward to." But, of course, these aren't the only benefits at Recurly. Check out this list:
