POSITION SUMMARY: A Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a hauling company, transfer station, recycling center or landfill. Responsibilities may include such things as yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, general office maintenance and other related duties.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Safely and efficiently perform assigned responsibilities to include such duties as:o Clean up work areas;o Fuel vehicles and equipment;o Clean track on track type and related equipment;o Perform yard work, including mowing and paper pick up;o Operate general site vehicles and equipment, such as water trucks, pick up trucks, sweepers, mowers, trimming equipment, etc.;o Perform general office maintenance and repairs, including painting and janitorial work;o Install temporary wind fences, as required;o Direct traffic at the site as necessary; ando Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

INTRODUCTION

+ This position is set aside for a person with a disability

+ Documented proof of disability is required prior to interview

+ This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance

+ Driving is 20% of the work and Warehouse/material handler is 80% of the work

+ This position is located in Washington, DC at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling

+ The core working hours are 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday with a 60 minute lunch break

+ This position Requires a valid drivers license with a clean driving record

+ Must be able to pass DOT Physical

+ Starting pay is $22.98

+ The incumbent will be responsible for the daily collection, loading and unloading of recycling materials for preparation of shipment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Provides collection, sorting and processing of all recyclables

+ Manual/automated loading or unloading of trucks or other transportation devices

+ Ensures safe conditions exist at all times in and around vehicle while in operation

+ Follows State, Federal and local military base rules and regulations regarding vehicle operation and material transport

+ Drives assigned route to all locations and collects, loads and unloads materials as required

+ Maintains accurate, complete mileage and collection information per contract requirements

+ Performs daily pre and post trip inspections of truck fluids, batteries, tires and safety equipment

+ Ensures equipment safety precautions are exercised to prevent damage in the performance of collection

+ Immediately reports any accidents, damage, collision, injury, etc., through the appropriate reporting process

+ Ensuring that all fire and safety precautions are strictly adhered to and material handling and delivery equipment are properly utilized

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

+ The incumbent must be able to stand 90% of the work time and sit 10%

+ Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. and push/pull 50 lbs

+ These requirements are necessary in order to complete contract work

+ He/she must be able to climb, stoop, kneel and reach

+ Must be able to speak to communicate with supervisors, staff, co-workers, etc

+ Must possess good vision and hearing

+ Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions of a warehouse atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS

+ Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record

+ Must be able to pass a DOT physical
