Congratulations! Yes, the company is everything they say; it's not perfect, but is genuinely one of the best places to work. Tips: - Set up smart message filters: there's a lot of chit-chat from Jive and Bugzilla/JIRA/Rally/Trello/ServiceDesk depending on the team. - Pay attention the listserve for your local site. RDU-List (and to a lesser extent, the Westford equivalent) can alert you to tons of free food/swag, events, and let you buy and sell things. The Red Hat community is generally phenomenal. - LEARN. Red Hat tends to use both "mature" (legacy) technologies and extremely cutting-edge tools, many of which they built. Your job is defined by what you can do, and there's a lot of freedom to make it your own as you grow. - Beware the free snacks & sodas, and if your site has a gym, take advantage. The Red Hat 15 is real - voice of experience here. - You should be using the HDHP + maxing the HSA contribution. They provide massive incentives to favor it, and the value is phenomenal. I may not be with Red Hat anymore (I got the opportunity of a lifetime), but have few bad things to say. If you've got questions you don't want to ask publicly, feel free to drop a PM.

Thanks a lot! Sounds very promising!

Pros of working at Red Hat

Company culture - meetings and ideas flow among folks despite the organizational hierarchy

Cons of working at Red Hat

Poor visibility from management - given its size, the company needs to be a better job of preparing its managers to recognize who puts in the work

Red Hat benefits

Medical coverage and recharge days - the health benefits were unbeatable in terms of cost x return and the recharge days policy (1 extra day off per quarter) was a plus
