Presumably this was when the Kailis family bought the concept and name etc. before opening a Red Rooster store in the Perth suburb of Kelmscott in 1972.
Myer (later part of Coles Myer) purchased the business in July 1981.
1981 Lansing, MI) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in New York City.
By the time the business was sold to Myer in 1982, there were 80 stores.
In 1986 Coles Myer bought the Big Rooster chain in the eastern states and changed their name to Red Rooster.
Although he passed away in 1988, his legacy remains as one of America’s most preeminent artists and one of the country’s most celebrated collagists.
In May 2002, Red Rooster was purchased by Western Australian company Australian Fast Foods, which owned the competing Chicken Treat fast food chain.
The first New Zealand outlet, in Takanini had opened in December 2004.
In April 2007, Red Rooster and Chicken Treat were sold for $180 million to a consortium formed by the management and Quadrant Private Equity.
The brand changed hands several times over the following decades and in 2010 the company-owned stores were converted to franchises.
In June 2011, Quadrant Private Equity sold Quick Service Restaurants, which owns the Red Rooster chain to Archer Capital.
An online delivery platform and national delivery were rolled out in 2016.
PAG Asia Capital bought the parent company, Craveable Brands in 2019.
It's the first of many big changes fans can expect during 2021, with plans to roll out upgrades to restaurants, staff uniforms, technology and menu items on the horizon.
