Position Summary
With a strong service orientation, the Public Services Librarian conducts basic circulation activities, manages student workers, leads public relations efforts, assures seamless processing of incoming and outgoing OhioLINK items, provides patrons with research assistance, fulfills general building duties, and assists library staff with projects as needed. Please be aware that ODU is currently migrating our ILS to Alma with the guidance and support of OPAL and OhioLINK, so the duties outlined below will likely change with that migration.
Essential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesCirculation Services
Works as part of a team with other staff members and student workers to provide high quality customer service at the Spangler Front Desk.
Assures continuous coverage of the Front Desk. If student workers are not available, the Public Services Librarian fills in at the desk.
Conducts basic circulation activities such as answering the phone, checking out items to patrons, processing returns, assisting students in locating course reserves, answering directional questions, etc.
Supervises and assists in the maintenance of library stacks.
Processes replacement payments.
Communicates with OPAL and OhioLINK and keeps up on changes, updates, and troubleshooting that is related to the circulation system.
Library Student Workers
Assists with the hiring, scheduling, and training of student workers on operations, policies, and procedures of the Circulation Services unit.
Supervises student workers in general circulation functions, online library systems, and patron services.
Evaluates student worker performance and provides feedback and guidance to student workers when necessary.
Library Public Relations
Leads the Library PR team in all promotional events and communications that need to go out to the campus community.
Communicates building hours via library web page, signage, and Front Desk voicemail.
Creates signage, flyers, and displays about library events, news, celebrations, and more.
Maintains regular updates to the library's social media sites.
OhioLINK
Assures seamless processing of incoming and outgoing OhioLINK items. Supervises student workers in the processing OhioLINK items. In the absence of student workers, the Public Services Librarian processes OhioLINK items.
Guides and assists student workers in the planning, strategizing, and assessment of OhioLINK processing, statistics, label creation, supply use, and potential issues.
Reference Services
Assists patrons with research needs, remotely (via phone, chat, and e-mail) and in-person.
Conducts in-depth research appointments with patrons.
Stays abreast of reference assignment alerts.
Works on reference projects, such as constructing and editing research guides and tutorials.
Spangler Learning Center Building
Collaborates with Spangler Learning Center building staff to ensure its efficient operation.
Follows pre-determined procedures for opening and/or closing Spangler Learning Center.
Monitors the behavior of patrons utilizing the building to prevent theft and/or destruction of materials and equipment.
Works with ODU Public Safety when there is a safety concern, building issue, emergency, or patrons that need assistance (escorts, lost and found, etc.).
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in Library & Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
Experience with library systems and general computer software, such as MS Office.
Experience assisting patrons with research using online catalogs, the internet, and research databases.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Ability to work as a team member to establish agreed upon goals and to share a common purpose that is service oriented.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organizational skills.
Willingness to work in a changing environment to meet the needs of library patrons.

The library environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of offices, which includes the need for general safe workplace practices with office equipment and computers, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations. When this position is within the Mobiles Services department work performed on vehicles (e.g., bookmobiles) is done in close quarters that, at times, may be in motion as teams travel from stop to stop. Additionally, this work is done year-round in vehicles furnished with heat and air conditioning.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
This position is performed mainly in the public and office areas of the Library although some off-site meetings in various other locations may occur (e.g., school visits, etc.). Branch Library Manager

The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is seeking an experienced, community-minded leader to serve as Branch Library Manager at our Cortland Library location.
The Cortland Library has a proud history of growth and service to the community. The first branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library opened in Cortland in October 1977, housed in an old bookmobile parked in Willow Park. The library later moved to a rented house and then to a new building at 212 North High Street, which opened in December 1984.
An expansion followed in 1991, and the building was named in honor of the Viets sisters of Cortland, who generously donated the land for its location. To meet the growing needs of the community, the library relocated once again to its current home at 578 Lakeview Drive-a 10,636-square-foot facility situated on 2.82 acres of land purchased by W-TCPL in 2001. Ground was broken in August 2011, and the new library celebrated its Grand Opening on June 9, 2012.
The Branch Library Manager will lead a dedicated team of approximately 6 full-time equivalent staff members (a combination of full- and part-time employees). Position Summary
An employee serving in this position advances the mission of the Library by serving as a professional librarian, providing direct public service, programming, outreach, and collection management services and expertise. This role is primarily responsible for providing leadership in a designated area/age group per the needs of the department or location. National Interstate's accounting co-op, starting in fall 2025 at our Richfield, Ohio office, will become a crucial part of our finance team. The rotational program provides experience as described below.
Loss Accounting
Maintain loss and loss adjustment expense reserve calculations based on actuarial models and historical claim data and analyze such calculations to ensure our reserve position is accurately presented in the financials.
Assist in the preparation of standard monthly reports and ad-hoc analyses of the loss ratio for senior management.
Collaborate with claims adjusters, underwriters, actuaries and other finance personnel to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records and claims data.
Support the department by providing complete and accurate accounting information such as footnote schedules, regulatory reports and other key management reports.
Reinsurance Accounting
Perform technical accounting duties, such as the recording of premiums and claims transactions, related to month and quarter-end close activities.
Reconcile reinsurance balances with the respective participants on various treaties and facultative reinsurance placements.
Prepare reinsurance billings and payments for premiums, commissions and claims, working closely with our reinsurance brokers and reinsurers on various treaties and facultative reinsurance placements. Monitor and assist with resolving aged reinsurance receivables.
Complete semi-annual financial statements for each of our alternative risk transfer rental captive products, which are shared with product management and insureds.
Validate and analyze reinsurance system data, including recalculations of reinsurance applied to large claims.
General and Statutory Accounting
Prepare schedules to support the monthly consolidated financial statements.
Assist with prepaid assets, fixed assets, other assets, and other liabilities, including recording applicable journal entries and account reconciliations.
Learn the statutory reporting process and support the preparation of the quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and filings.
Help facilitate the filing of sales and use tax, and excise tax returns.
Financial Planning and Analysis
Engage in the annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes, including preparing analysis and schedules, proofreading documents for accuracy, and collaborating with other departments to collect information and data.
Conduct a monthly analysis of premium and expense data to support the reporting of financial statement fluctuations and the identification of key drivers of operating results to management.
Assist in the preparation of additional analysis requested by management for use in modeling, presentations, meetings, and other monthly or quarterly reports.
Assist with cash flow management by analyzing daily cash positions and forecasting future cash flows, ensuring sufficient operating liquidity.
Job Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university pursuing a degree in Accounting.
Anticipated graduation date ranging from Fall/Winter 2026 to Spring 2029.

Job Summary:
The position supports the Youth Services Department by participating in the creation and presentation of programs, as well as developing and maintaining collections. Requirements
Essential Job Functions
Plans, designs, promotes, presents, and evaluates library activities for children, young adults, parents, and adults who work with children.
Interviews, selects, and trains new employees; Supervisesand evaluates subordinates' performance and counsels them on the solution of new or difficult problems. Conducts staff meetings to transmit information about policies and procedures; solves departmental problems and solicits staff input.
Assists in developing the community's library collection through: (1) analyzing and evaluating the collection's strengths and weaknesses (2) selecting materials for removal from the collection (3) identifying community information needs and selects materials to meet them.
Gathers statistics, prepares reports, and completes other projects as assigned.
