Utilities Mechanic / Refrigeration FULL-TIME
$29.15/hr
This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Applicants will be considered for any refrigeration maintenance opening on any overnight shift. Applicant must be willing to work overtime and weekends if required. Refrigeration Maintenance positions are responsible for monitoring, adjusting and maintaining the operation of the refrigeration systems and boiler and pumping systems as related to plant operation. Must be able to complete computerized training programs and use Tyson SAP software to document completion details of preventative maintenance routines as scheduled by the supervisor. Must be able to read and write where required for record keeping purposes. Must be able to use math as needed to make work related computations for machinery, fluid capacities, etc. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis and be able to stand for up to 12 hours. Applicant must be willing to complete all required training for the job.
Quick Start Level 6 Rate - $26.40, has 8 Levels of training paying $29.15.

This refrigeration maintenance position requires one year of industrial experience in ammonia refrigeration or the equivalent certification from a technical school. Applicant must have at least six months of continuous work history with same employer within the last twelve months to be considered.

Job Summary

Maintain, repair, and install all equipment related to the utilities business unit which may include refrigeration, compressed air, dry air, steam, condensate, heating, and air-conditioning systems (this list is not all-inclusive). Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Must have or be able to obtain refrigeration certifications within 12 months Overall good work record (which includes attendance, safety, job performance, flexibility, and team behaviors) Demonstrated ability to promote continuous process improvement and LEAN principles Provide reference points for installation of structural and functional components Conduct basic structural installation such as installing mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building Operate lifts and hoists and aligns components into position Complete basic maintenance functions: screws, bolts, rivets, welds and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, heat exchangers, and pipes Cut, thread, and connect pipe to functional components and water or power system on premises Pump specified gas or fluid into system Interface with PLC and Wonderware to monitor, operate, and set-up equipment parameters Calibrate automated blow downs, meters, and laboratory equipment Perform calculations on volumes and flows, heat loads for rooms and processes Monitor and test operations; read gauges and instruments; adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure and temperature in system Perform and document chemical testing on water support systems for steam and HVAC systems Maintain all necessary equipment logs and computer files Conduct training for new employees as needed Perform preventive and reliability centered maintenance on all equipment in the utilities business unit Dismantle malfunctioning systems and tests components Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems Insulate piping, components, cabinets, and various other equipment within systems Install wiring to connect components to electric power source Ability to troubleshoot electrical failures Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints Demonstrate good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
Two years refrigeration maintenance experience or degree in a related field.Previous mechanical and/or refrigeration training Previous welding experience Experience with Manufacturing software (Wonderware) and Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo)

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
You will be a part of a team that supports the safe, continuous daily operations by providing routine maintenance, inspections, alterations and repairs throughout the hospital.


Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Plant Operations or his/her designee, and in all areas of the hospital, related buildings, and offsite properties performs a variety of general maintenance; preventative maintenance; repairs and construction duties, and operates, maintains, repairs and adjusts HVAC & Refrigeration equipment, systems and controls in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation and maintenance manuals, manufacturers specifications or other requirements as directed.Diagnostic trouble shooting of DDC systems
Responsibilities:
Must be familiar with the operation of all building systems
Performs the following functions as assigned or required:
Performs basic electrical maintenance duties under the supervision of the Hospitals Electrician, such as; replacing an outlet, plug, switch, light fixtures, nurse call cords, replacing light bulbs, wiring for air conditioners, changing fuses and other duties.
Performs basic plumbing duties such as; fixing leaking faucets, replacing parts, sweats joints and cleaning out traps. under the supervision of the Hospitals plumber
Performs mechanical duties such as maintaining and inspecting machines, devices, and equipment for defects, dismantles to gain access to defective parts, repairs or replaces them.
Repairs tables, other furniture and equipment such as doors, locks, and door closers; involving replacing and adjusting.
Paints floors and walls, applies other wall coverings, lays tile, and performs rough carpentry duties.
Performs Preventative Maintenance on hospital equipment and systems.
Checks all lighting in and around the hospital buildings. Replaces burnt out bulbs as necessary.
Removes and replaces defective or outdated equipment.
Procures necessary parts and materials for jobs.
Makes necessary repairs to grounds, off site buildings and other hospital property.
Performs project work as assigned.
Performs equipment/machine space rounds on assigned shift or as otherwise requested.
Plans, organizes and executes minor projects
Performs minor carpentry such as adjusting doors, closers, installing shelving
Performs repairs to plaster, brickwork or concrete as required.
Cleans shop and mechanical spaces/equipment.
May drive hospital truck for pick up of equipment and supplies as requested.
Moves furniture, file cabinets, beds, tables and boxes as required.
May be required to work overtime when necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Consistently adheres to all Hospital and Departmental policies and Safety Guidelines.
Demonstrates good understanding HVAC Equipment and Systems operation and performance.
Correctly evaluates equipment alarms, log sheet data, energy management
computer print out data to determine/confirm adjustments, efficient operation.
Performs adjustments, starting/stopping equipment, to maintain ventilation air flow, exhaust systems, heat and/or other equipment and systems.
Routinely monitors and maintains building energy management and pneumatic control systems and trend reports, responds to alarms, reports alarms and performs follow-up repairs, while keeping the Director of Plant Operations and/or his/her designee informed, along with the customer.
Routinely maintains, cleans, monitors condition of assigned areas to preserve exemplary condition.
Correctly performs, completes all maintenance, work orders, and/or required duties in timely fashion with high degree of quality.
Continuously inspects, cleans, lubricates, paints, maintains equipment, systems as directed.
Demonstrates ability to successfully troubleshoot, resolve equipment, system problems, failures; implement remedial action immediately as required.
Supervises contractors and/or outside vendors in the completion of assigned tasks, installations, inspections or repairs in his/her area of responsibility as assigned or required


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School vocation training.
Must be mechanically inclined.
Certificate of completion from accredited vocational school or other curriculum in HVAC, Refrigeration Training Program.
