General Description:

As the Wheel Refurbishing Technician, you will be responsible for performing refurbishing of commercial truck wheels in a Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Centers Commercial Tire facility through a series of manual and automated processes. This position does not require experience and the company will train in required skills.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

+ Learn and perform wheel refurbishing process including: Steam cleaning product (wheels) of foreign materials, shot blasting product to remove rust and paint, Inspecting product for unsafe conditions.

+ Responsibility for product completion including approving or disapproving product.

+ Painting product with special paint and color for customer.

+ Maintain proper control of inventory to assure customer receives proper product.

+ Maintain daily/weekly/monthly/90 day's maintenance schedule and logbook.

+ Provide "Service Excellence - Always" to meet the service goals of the location.

+ Comply with all safety and liability guidelines and policies, including using protective safety equipment to ensure safe operation of machines.

+ Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time, which may include light and heavy lifting, including commercial tires and wheels, standing, bending, and squatting

Basic Requirements:

+ Must be at least 18 years of age.

+ No relocation is being offered for this position.

+ Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Previous manufacturing experience including shot blasting and painting.

+ High School Diploma or GED.

+ Must be able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team.

Job Details

Function/Position Description:

Able to work unsupervised on occasion or with minimal supervision, fabricates, modifies and repairs sweepers, applying knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, shop mathematics, and machining procedures. Uses hand and power tools, welding and heat treating equipment and precision measuring instruments.

**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:**

1. Disassembles defective equipment, such as hydraulic pumps, air compressors, motors, etc.

2. Replaces defective parts using pipefitting and welding tools, hand and power tools. May install new equipment.

3. Service sweepers by changing oil, filters, etc.

4. Adjust heads, brooms, and aligns fans.

5. Uses torch to remove bent or destroyed parts.

6. Reassembles, adjusts and tests repaired equipment.

7. Provides technical advice and assists customers in repairing products/components by identifying make and model of unit and analyzing performance problem(s). Assist with ordering replacement parts.

8. Welds new parts on sweepers as needed.

9. Follows through on problem resolution by maintaining contact with customer ensuring accurate service and repairs have been completed.

10. May train other team members in proper job procedures.

11. Required to accurately record work order information and inventory transactions. Assist with inventory corrections as needed. May assist in closing work orders.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:**

3. Able to read blue prints.

4. Class "B" CDL with airbrakes a plus.

5. Ability to lift, push or pull 50 -- 75 pounds alone. Requires long periods of time sitting and standing daily. Occasionally required to climb stairs/ladders up to 25 ft.

6. Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel toe shoes.

7. Manual dexterity; mechanically inclined and good eye/hand coordination.

8. Good mechanical ability/aptitude. Good knowledge and use of shop math.

9. Knowledge and skill in use of caliper and other measuring devices.

10. Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.

11. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills required.

12. Must be able to read and understand operators/owners manuals and blueprints.

13. Knowledge of electrical equipment and electrical repairs.

14. Ability to weld is a plus.

15. Available to work overtime and weekends as required by customer demands.

16. Good communications skills, both verbal and written.

17. Knowledge of and ability to use both powered and hand tools.
