ReGeneration Schools, founded in 2016, is a nationally ranked charter program with seven charter schools located in Illinois and Ohio. ReGeneration serves over 1800 students of whom 99% are minority and 86% are low income. We are seeking an ambitious Dean of Students to join our Ohio team. This individual will collaborate with fellow staff members to create a learner-centered, friendly and safe school environment. This individual must have a proven track record of articulating high expectations and promoting a shared vision and mission of excellence. The Dean of Students will play an integral part in developing a sense of shared ownership school partners and creating strong ties with the community we serve.

Responsibilities:
As a member of the school's administrative team, provide leadership to all staff and students in establishing a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and fun school culture.
Establish consistent standards and structures around discipline and behavior management.
Collaborate with school administrators to identify discipline and safety goals, objectives and metrics.
Contribute to the evaluation of behavioral specialists
Establish protocols for consistent communication of discipline data with relevant stakeholders to ensure safe passage for students (school administrators, parents, teachers, students).
Lead parent and student orientations around campus discipline and expectations.
Great verbal communication skills, time management and organization skills, and exceptional customer service.
Exercise good judgment when responding to safety and security violations and emergencies.
Exercise dignity and respect when interacting with students at all times.
Institute and reinforce high discipline standard among faculty and students.
Modeling the school's values and the standard for professional behavior.
Manage and patrol school ground to ensure safety and security of students and staff.
Monitor student attendance and ensure that attendance is entered daily into Impact.
Develop positive rapport with school staff and students to contribute to working conditions conducive to building a professional learning community.
Create and follow protocols for the safe and orderly entry, exit and movement of students throughout the school grounds.
Collaborate with leadership teams in behavioral crisis management and acute behavioral issues.
Proactively circulating throughout classrooms and hallways during the day, to gain valuable context on student behavior and help support positive school culture.
Supervising breakfast, lunch, in-between class transitions, enrichment, and dismissal, making sure students are always where they are supposed to be and ensuring a professional school culture at these times.
Keep extremely accurate student discipline records, documenting all conferences, suspensions, and phone calls for behavior.
Consult resources to address social and emotional/health issues that may impact student performance/behavior.
Highly present and visible during school hours, relentlessly ensuring the school has an amazing school culture.
Developing and implementing plans ensuring all students do their homework (ensuring homework is checked each morning and keep accurate homework completion records).
Coordinate student apologies and school culture messages at morning circles and community town meetings.
Conduct daily phone calls to parents to ensure uniform compliance.
Assist in other student support initiatives.
Other duties when assigned.

We will emphasize partnerships with community members, leaders, social service providers, and local law enforcement to reduce community levels of violence. We will help create a safer, healthier environment for young adults, youth, and their families. These general approaches will be specifically addressed using for major methods: Community Violence Intervention (CVI) / Street Outreach, Individualized Service Provision, Victim Support Services, and Nonviolence Training.
About the SC2 Collaborative
The Institute for Nonviolence Chicago is serving as the hub for the Scaling Up (SC2) initiative in the Austin community. The SC2 Austin Collaborative came together to begin scaling their promising programs throughout Austin to achieve community-level violence reduction by scaling up services to individuals at highest risk of violence. This unprecedented level of coordination, alignment, and investment in direct service provision to the highest risk individuals will not only provide lessons for local replication but may also serve as a model that can be deployed in other cities across the nation.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Associate Director of Reentry & Support Services, the SC2 Life Coach works directly with high-risk individuals in the community and accompanies them as they navigate the challenges associated to current or past involvement with the criminal justice system, work to establish a healthy and stable lifestyle, and overcome barriers to accomplishing their professional goals. This position not only provides services and resources to help achieve established goals, but also uses first-hand knowledge of the community to develop and maintain meaningful and effective relationships with participants, responds in the community as crises arise and draws out participant motivation to reach his/her potential. The SC2 Life Coach models prosocial behaviors and successful interpersonal relationships, provides the accountability necessary to achieving established goals, and mentors participants as they receive supportive services and attend court dates. As such, this role is a critical component of the long-term success of the SC2 Austin Collaborative.
This position may also be a member of a Violence Prevention-Community Support Team (VP-CST), an innovative effort to provide trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to individuals who have experienced chronic exposure to firearm violence. VP-CST teams are comprised of an outreach worker, life coach and clinician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize first-hand knowledge of the community and street conflicts to develop and maintain supportive and effective relationships with participants
Using a trauma-informed approach, provide support, resources and accountability to a caseload of 15 participants at minimum
Coordinate and complete intake process for every participant on caseload
Establish and monitor participant goals
Conduct and document in database a minimum of one in-person one-on-one support sessions each week with every participant on caseload
Document in database the progress of each participant, including significant contacts, events attended (such as court dates) and feedback shared by external partners
Assist participants with transportation to community supports, court, social service agencies, etc.
Respond to crises in the community that impact participant safety and/or stability
Provide linkages to needed supports, such as safe and stable housing or other community resources
Create coordinated care, addressing gaps in information and services for each participant through regular communication with internal team members, participant family, and other service providers
Work closely with referring partners and our community-based partners to ensure that goals are met
Model prosocial behaviors and successful interpersonal relationships
Serve as a mentor and draw out participant motivation to reach his/her potential
Assist in facilitating cognitive behavioral intervention (CBI) groups to support participant self-regulation
Provide accountability necessary to support participant achieving established goals, challenge antisocial behavior and consistently hold participants to high standards
Serve as a member of a Violence Prevention-Community Support Team (VP-CST)
Participate in trainings required of all VP-CST team members
Document services provided in database, SmartCare
Attend regular internal meetings about participants served by the VP-CST team and communicate and coordinate with team members about participant progress as much as Releases of Information allow
Complete required annual trainings, such as nonviolence training
Support and attend annual organization-wide staff events and participate in events hosted by community partners, as needed
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The following educational qualifications are required for all life coaches to be a part of a VP-CST team:
An individual possessing a bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or related human service field OR
An individual possessing a bachelor's degree in any field with two years of documented clinical experience in a mental health setting under the supervision of a QMHP OR
An individual with a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of five years documented clinical experience in mental health or human services
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
At least five years (5) experience working with high-risk individuals, preferably in Community Violence Intervention (CVI) field
Willingness and flexibility to respond to crises around the clock
Demonstrated commitment to professional development and to bettering yourself
Knowledge of Chicago neighborhoods, the fundamental drivers of violence and the history of street groups in the city
Knowledge of the criminal justice system in Cook County, court processes, restorative justice practices and alternatives to incarceration
Knowledge of basic cognitive behavioral intervention (CBI) principles
Ability to work with a team and respond well to supervisor direction
Ability to take initiative, work as a self-starter, lead by example, and model exemplary conduct
Ability and commitment to maintain a highlevel of confidentiality
Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to complete basic data entry and word processing tasks
No pending criminal cases or prior convictions for sexual assault, child abuse or domestic violence
Valid Illinois driver's license, insurance, and good driving record
Ability to meet prescribed deadlines, collaborate as part of a team and respond well to supervisor direction and follow up
Possess a strong sense of compassion and patience for serving an underserved population
SALARY RANGE:
Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $50,000.

The Social Worker will have the opportunity to continue to build a school and help create a lasting institution in Cincinnati. The Social Worker must have a proven track record of working with families and community agencies in alleviating adverse conditions in order to promote academic success for all students. This individual will conduct screenings and assessments, and provide individual and group counseling. This individual will help develop positive relationships with school staff, students, and their families and contribute significantly to building a learning team. This individual will also function as a member of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to determine students' eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and ongoing progress.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate, troubleshoot and communicate with students, parents/guardians, school leaders, and community stakeholders (with prompt response).
Develop programs that provide counseling to address the child's social, emotional, and academic needs in areas such as school performance, anger management, conflict resolution or substance abuse, etc.
Facilitate processes for the evaluation of students for special education services and fully participate in the multidisciplinary team to promote student well-being.
Use informal and formal assessments to support the development of students.
Assess the need for and conduct instruction to parents on various topics including parenting skills, behavior management, ADHD, etc.
Addresses legal issues such as child abuse, discipline, and custodial arrangements.
Provide one-on-one counseling or group counseling as needed to students and families.
Collaborate with city and state agencies for crisis management strategies.
Participate in IEP conferences including the preparation of IEP goals and objectives.
Provide appropriate supervision of students during class breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to maintain an optimal work environment and to ensure students' safety and well-being.
Help complete necessary school-wide duties for the successful and orderly functioning of the school (e.g., hallway supervision, arrival/departure transitions, field trips, etc.) and other such duties as the Principal may request.
Attend and participate in events outside of normal school hours (e.g. family nights, student performances, field trips, report card pick-up, teacher-parent conferences, family orientations, etc.).
Partner with the Dean of Students to design and coordinate family engagement and family-education activities (e.g. monthly family meetings, home visits, and records procurement for newly enrolled students, workshops, etc.).
Engage families in their children's education.
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
Reflect critically on teaching practice and implement improvement strategies as needed.
Be receptive to feedback from school administrators and collaborators to improve practice.
