Job Summary: The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is a member of the Anesthesia care team and, under the supervision of an anesthesiologist or other qualified physician, participates in rendering anesthetic services. The CRNA reports to the supervising physician for anesthesia services and all patient care activities. These activities include those which involve direct patient care such as surgical anesthesia and pain management and those which involve indirect patient care such as care of and ordering anesthesia equipment, supplies, and other duties deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
The basic required basic qualifications for the CRNA applicant for clinical privileges shall include the following:
A current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in Tennessee or a recognized multistate licensure with privilege to practice in Tennessee
A current, unencumbered license as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Tennessee
Completion of Nurse Anesthesia program accredited at time of completion
Completion of preparation at the master's or doctoral level in a nursing specialty
A master's degree or higher is not required if:
National certification in anesthesia and licensure in Tennessee as a registered nurse was obtained prior to July 1, 2005; or
National certification in anesthesia and licensure as a registered nurse with the multistate licensure privilege to practice in Tennessee was obtained prior to July 1, 2005 and
Awaiting initial certification or maintenance of continuous certification as a Certified Registered Nurse
Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
Performing and documenting a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies, selecting, obtaining, ordering and administering pre-anesthetic medications and fluids; and obtaining consent for anesthesia.
Developing and implementing an anesthetic plan including general, regional, local and sedation.
Selecting, applying and inserting appropriate monitoring modalities for continuous patient evaluation.
Selecting and administering the anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs and fluids deemed necessary to manage the anesthetic.
Managing a patient's airway and pulmonary status using current practice modalities and guidelines.
Facilitating emergence and recovery from anesthesia by appropriate selection and administration of medications, fluids and ventilation support.
Discharging the patient from the post-anesthesia care area and provide post-anesthesia follow-up and care.
Implementing pain management modalities.
Responding to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
Participating in quality and performance improvement, educational and research efforts.
Participating in departmental, institutional, and organizational committees as assigned.
Completion of any other duties as assigned
Duties and Responsibilities:
The CRNA's scope of practice includes, but is not limited to the following:

Maintains an active working knowledge of all Governmental Mandated Regulations as it pertains to claims submission. * Ensures successful implementation of Governmental Regulatory Billing changes, including but not limited to Medicare OPPS effective August 1, 2000. * Performs the necessary research in order to determine proper governmental requirements prior to claims submission. * Collects balance owed from third party payers in accordance with state and federal laws governing collection practices. * Maintains an active working knowledge of all billing and reimbursement requirements by Payer. * Continuously receives updates and information regarding challenges and newly revised billing and reimbursement practices to ensure compliance.

Monitors, trouble shoots, and communicates outpatient issues and nutrition plan of care in EMR messaging when patients are between outpatient appointments and/or inpatient admissions.

Performs routine respiratory therapy procedures including IPPB, O2 therapy, and humidity/aerosol therapy in an assigned area on patients.

What you will do
Operational Management • Works in collaboration with Regional One Health (ROH) leadership and Clinical Advisory Committee (CAC) to develop operational goals for oncology services. • Ensures efficient throughput for areas of responsibility in ambulatory and acute settings, including efficient, timely, and cost-effective medical care. • Accountable for collaboration with and ultimate outcomes of key ancillary support areas (e.g., pharmacy, laboratory, radiology) and business/administrative support areas (e.g., financial counseling, revenue cycle management, managed care) with impact on oncology service line performance. • Executes business plans to support oncology programs and services. Directs and organizes project assignments and teams; tracks progress; and reports status using project management skills. • Ensures the timely completion of credentialing and re-credentialing for current and prospective providers. • Proactively evaluates program operations for implementation of cost-effective quality and performance improvement changes. Manages the implementation of approved changes and evaluates outcomes. Direct responsibility to build rapport with, and establish relationships with patients, patient family member(s), and Clinical staff on nursing units. Must demonstrate genuine compassion toward patients and patient family member(s) while performing essential functions below.
Key Job Responsibilities
Essential Function
Meets with all patients on assigned nursing unit(s) to present and discuss the printed menu. Introduces & explains QR code technology to view menu on-line.
Explains the patient meal order and delivery process to both patient and any family members present.
Spotlights the daily Chef's Special for each meal, as well as the “Always Available” options.
Points out the printed descriptions of the most common modified diets (Renal, Cardiac, Full liquid, Clear Liquid, etc.) and provides clarification if needed.
Discusses any food preferences and/or food allergies with patients and documents in the MyDining software suite.
Refers any nutrition related concerns to the unit's Clinical Dietitian and non-nutrition related issues to nursing.
Maintains a clear understanding of the menu options and their key ingredients, and effectively communicates this information to patients, patient family member(s), and Clinical staff.
Communicates any patient issues to manager/supervisor and to incoming peers.
Continuously drives for improvement in overall patient satisfaction.
Prepares, delivers, and recovers all patient meal trays for assigned nursing unit(s).
Assembles patient trays to the exact requirements of each meal ticket.
Loads & delivers tray carts to nursing unit(s) utilizing the Cart Loading & Cart Departure functions in the MyDelivery software.
Distributes individual trays to patients following utilizing the Tray Delivery function in the MyDelivery software, while following established procedures and scripting.
Recovers soiled patient trays utilizing the Tray Recovery function in the MyDelivery software.
Follows established ROC dress code (Policy No: 5.11 - Professional Appearance) and wears the approved uniform for the Patient Dining Representative program.
Works effectively as a team member within department and with customer to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
Interacts and collaborates with patient/family/hospital staff in a customer responsive and courteous manner, in compliance with iRESPECT and Retail Care standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction.
Assists personnel when needed by performing tasks to keep department operating at peak efficiency levels.
Essential Function
Answers inquiries and resolves problems related to assigned functions.
Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department, and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e., HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance Policies).
Maintains required department records, reports, and files. Adheres to established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement
Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and personnel.
Provides coverage for relief and absences within department. Demonstrates flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to maintain coverage for food and nutrition services.
Completes required continuous training and education, including, department specific requirements.
