**Job Description:**
At Regions, the RAH (Regions Affordable Housing) Affordable Housing Underwriter serves as part of the first line of defense, evaluating and underwriting tax credit investments to ensure each supports Regions' objectives and meets or exceeds investment guidelines. Through timely and thorough underwriting, this role supports Regions strategy to maintain and expand investor relationships. This position identifies and mitigates risk in existing and proposed transactions. This position will also work directly with teammates in Credit Risk, Client Coverage, Capital Markets, and other areas of the bank to lead the analysis of credit opportunities, underwriting of credit exposure, and management of a portfolio of loans and other credit relationships while providing effective challenge to these various constituents. This individual will evaluate and underwrite low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) investments and construction/bridge loans to ensure each supports RAH's objectives and meets or exceeds investment guidelines.
**Primary Responsibilities**
+ Prepares comprehensive executive summaries of proposed investments for review by team management, internal committee and investor approval, including a detailed project description, a list of merits, as well as risks and risk mitigates
+ Prepares credit approval packages on new and renewed debt products including determination of the appropriate risk rating as well as risk factors that could change the risk rating, analysis of financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, relationship profitability (RAROC), and any other significant risk drivers
+ Conducts analyses of guarantors as needed to support credit underwriting
+ Reviews closing due diligence in collaboration with and oversight by more senior RAH team members
+ Maintains credit files including post-closing items (actively manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions and ensures credit files are complete with all up to date information)
+ Creates and maintains financial models, operating expense analysis, and sensitivity analyses
+ Coordinates initial closing, internal department, and third-party review process
+ Responds to developer and investor inquiries and underwriting and due diligence questions
+ Conducts site visits when necessary
+ Assists with special projects, equity payments, or other priorities, as requested
+ Conducts ongoing portfolio monitoring and servicing activities
+ Validates the appropriate risk rating for a company and proactively identifies risk rating changes
+ Identifies opportunities for exposure reduction or new opportunities within assigned portfolio
+ Develops a strong working knowledge of and ensures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy, and external regulatory requirements documents any exceptions to policy and provides related rationale/mitigants
+ Offers advice and guidance to junior underwriters on occasion
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Evaluate borrower documentation for accuracy, compliance, and eligibility
Collaborate with the COO and team members to find solutions and move loans to funding
Use Encompass and Optimal Blue to assess, structure, and price loans
Ensure files are reviewed and cleared in a timely manner
Proactively manage pipeline and escalate potential issues as needed
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
Strong Non-QM underwriting experience required
Proficiency in Encompass (required) and Optimal Blue
Detail-oriented, proactive, and solution-driven mindset
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively

Base salary: up to $85,000 annually- not including bonus

* Develop emerging underwriting skills and consistent technical proficiency of underwriting guidelines and underlying risk management philosophy
* Effectively and independently handle renewal ratings by building the formula and needed picks using Short Term Disability (STD) Incurral.
* Establish solid relationships with all internal and external business partners, negotiating prices and benefit options with the sales team and brokers
* Actively drive and participate in an assigned amount of project work and special assignments
* Ensure data integrity reports are promptly completed
* Demonstrate understanding of the elements of pricing including risk factors, manual rates, risk classification, pricing targets and reinsurance
* Working on STD Incurral, Administrative Service Offerings (ASO) STD, Leave Management, AMT Tool and SAADD tools. (Pricing tools)
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree preferred. Desired majors including Risk Management & Insurance, Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting and Math
* Strong interpersonal and business communication skills
* Minimum of 1+ years of Group Benefits Underwriting, or related experience is preferred
* Solid MS Office Knowledge (Microsoft Excel formulas, sorting, v-look-ups, pivot tables)
* Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical and research skills
This position can be filled at different levels depending on experience
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$49,920 - $83,160

Job Description:
At Regions, the Capital Markets Debt Operations group comprises of Syndicated Loan Agency Services, Syndicated Loan Services, RSL Operations, RECM Operations, and Loan Trading Operations. These teams provide operational and risk management support the $11B Regions-led syndication portfolio, syndicated participation bought portfolio, FNMA, Freddie Mac, HUD, and loan trading portfolios.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages a complex portfolio of syndicated/participated bank facilities across multiple industries and business lines
Provides loan servicing support and has direct communication with agent banks, lenders, and business partners
Reconciles daily funding and payment activity to account for all daily cash transactions
Calculates and tracks complex interest and fee accruals at various rate levels
Monitors and escalates past due principal, interest, and fees to ensure that the loan accounting system is accurate and provides clients timely and accurate invoices
Communicates with internal/external agents regarding issues around these specialized facilities
Manages the ongoing balances between loan system and agent bank
Researches and resolves loan related issues which may include missing payments, margin changes and/or unprocessed draw requests or conversions
Ensures all lending transactions are booked and managed correctly, minimizing operational risks and losses and ensuring compliance with all bank policies and procedures
Reads and interprets complex legal credit agreements and related documentation working with credit, legal, and/or origination
Monitors control reports updating applicable comments
Supports co-workers and works with various special projects or other tasks as assigned
Recommends latest methods to improve departmental procedures
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements
Associate's Degree
