As a Registered Dietician - SAU, you will:

Responsible for the assessment and planning of the nutritional care of the residents in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, policies and procedures, and in coordination with the Nutrition Services Supervisor/Manager to ensure that qualify food service and nutritional care is provided to the residents.

Maintains clinical nutrition documentation for residents in accordance with Nursing Center policy and procedure, as well as state and federal regulations. Ensures that all assessments and progress notes documented in the medical records are accurate, informative, and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident's response to the plan of care. Ensures all documentation is completed within the required timeframes and in accordance with Nursing Center policy and procedure, as well as state and federal regulations.

Participates with the interdisciplinary team in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans of care; attends meetings/conferences to discuss the clinical care of the resident; and communicates resident concerns and response to interventions to interdisciplinary team members and direct care staff.

Qualifications As a Registered Dietician - SAU, you will have:
· Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
· Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association. License or certification as mandated by the state in which employed.
· ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.
· Experience in long-term care environment and geriatric nutrition preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

+ Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.

+ Approve patient menus and nutritional supplements.

+ Advise patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans, diet modifications and food selection and preparation.

+ Provide nutritional assessments per facility policy and regulation.

+ Review and approve menus developed by the facility.

+ Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.

+ Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient.

+ Participate in treatment team as appropriate.

+ Review and approve facility diet manual annually in conjunction with medical staff.

+ Promote better health by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, food service systems management, or a related area from a 4-year accredited college or university.
  • 3 years' experience in food service, hospital, or long-term care setting.

  • Makes recommendations to the Dietary Manager and/or Executive Director on system changes, sanitation, in-service topics, and menu changes.
  • Inspects Dietary Department regularly to ensure that it is safe and sanitary.
  • Personifies outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients, and vendors by acting as a subject matter resource in a timely, considerate, and friendly manner, always maintaining the "Golden Rule" approach; practices patience and kindness.
