**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ Proactively reports pertinent feedback to Food and Nutrition Services Director in a timely manner
+ Develops menus with Chef and Director and signs off on nutritional adequacy
+ Ensures that all required ABM Healthcare Support Services nutrition and patient/resident SOPs are in place; facilitates implementation of department policies and procedures to ensure programs meet goals
+ Directs staff on the proper use of all automated/manual diet office systems and takes corrective action as needed
+ Ensures that nutritional supplements and diet office equipment are ordered as needed and stays within budget
+ Documents appropriate patient/resident nutrition care in medical record
+ Assesses nutritional status per standards of care/nutrition diagnosis charting; evaluates appropriateness of diet orders; plans appropriate nutrition intervention using Nutrition Care Process
+ Selects appropriate nutrition education materials for clients
+ Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies
+ Maximizes medical nutrition therapy reimbursement
+ Develops and implements in-service programs according to procedure; teaches ServSafe classes to associates along with Chef or Director
+ Ensures temperature records are maintained per policy and procedure for tray assembly area
+ Develops nutrition staff schedules within budgeted master schedule
+ Documents employee report offs and reports occurrences to Food and Nutrition Services Director.
+ Demonstrates ability to complete all diet office job tasks and work in absence of staff to maintain services if needed.
+ Assists with hiring and training new employees - interviews candidates for diet office and dietitian positions, ensures new employees are instructed on facility documentation and other nutrition and patient/resident services SOPs. Completes probationary evaluations per facility procedure.
+ Periodically audits menu accuracy; use of standardized recipes; and safe food handling guidelines.
+ Routinely evaluates (tastes) food products with chef/director
+ Periodically checks that meal service is provided at designated times in patient/resident areas.
+ Periodically monitors patient tray assembly to ensure proper food handling, appropriate food temperatures; portioning of items on plates/trays
+ Participates in budgeting for cost of diet office supplies and equipment.
+ Assists with department and annual facility training programs as assigned by Director; conducts in-service training with nutrition team
+ Attends outside educational seminars pertinent to nutrition portfolio and regulatory issues. Maintains registration and state licensure/certification
+ Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**
+ Undergraduate Degree in Nutrition; internship (or equivalent work experience acceptable), and registereddietitian status.
+ Two to three (2-3) years' work experience in a healthcare environment.
+ Licensed or certified status
+ Completion of Sanitation Certification Course desirable
+ Proven knowledge of MS Office including word, excel, outlook and powerpoint.

Job Overview
The RegisteredDietitian (RD) is a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) with both clinical nutrition and food service management roles. The RD will conduct nutrition assessments and follow-ups as needed to assess participants' nutritional status and provide appropriate medical nutrition therapy (MNT), such as therapeutic and mechanically altered diets, oral nutritional supplements or enteral nutrition recommendations, dietary counseling, nutrition education, food security resources, and coordination of care with other IDT disciplines. The RD will support Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) compliance by planning menus to meet requirements, conducting quarterly CACFP food service audits, and maintaining required CACFP documentation. The RD will support meal service by planning therapeutic menus, maintaining diet records, coordinating diet changes with the Food Preparation Coordinator, and conducting regular kitchen audits. The RD will conduct in-services as needed for the kitchen staff and/or IDT members to ensure accurate and evidence-based nutrition care practices.
Minimum Requirements
* Active RegisteredDietitian (RD) or RegisteredDietitian Nutritionist (RDN) status with the Commission on Dietetics Registration required.
* California Food Handler or Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-accredited training provider meeting ASTM International E2659-09 Standard Practice for Certificate Programs. Required within 90 days of hire, required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate nutritional needs based on medical history and current health status.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans that include dietary recommendations and interventions.
Provide guidance on tube feeding protocols for patients requiring enteral nutrition.
Collaborate with the dietary department to ensure compliance with established nutrition standards and policies.
Perform diagnostic evaluations to identify nutritional deficiencies or imbalances in patients.
Supervise dietary staff, ensuring adherence to best practices in food preparation and service.
Educate patients and their families on proper nutrition, dietary restrictions, and healthy eating habits.
Stay informed of the latest research in dietetics and apply evidence-based practices in patient care.
EXPERIENCE
A degree in Dietetics or a related field is required; completion of an accredited internship is preferred.
Previous experience working in a hospital/long term care setting is highly desirable.
Familiarity with dietary systems used for patient management within healthcare facilities.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
