Key Duties
Conducts a nutrition assessment for patients at nutritional risk per facility policies and procedures
Develops and implements an individualized plan for nutrition intervention based on nutrition assessment and evidence-based standards
Assess educational needs and provide nutrition counseling for individuals and groups
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in meetings and/or rounds
Experience with electronic charting, the Nutrition Care Process and writing PES statements to provide appropriate documentation for the plan of care
Works cooperatively with food service staff to ensure conformance to diet prescriptions
Demonstrates accountability for the proper use of patients' protected health information
Ability to perform work independently with minimal training

**Responsibilities**
+ Provides quality nutrition services including, but not limited to, screening, initial assessment, re-assessments, nutrition counseling and education, therapeutic diet calculations, and calorie counts. Develops an appropriate nutritional care plan.
+ Considers religious, cultural, and ethical factors when completing nutrition assessments and creating plan of care.
+ Evaluates potential food/drug interactions, and/or herb/supplement interactions. Provides nutrition education/counseling as appropriate.
+ Communicates and implements the nutritional plan of care with the interdisciplinary care team.
+ Attend Interdisciplinary Care meetings, when assigned, for the development of patient care plans. Participates with the interdisciplinary team in various medical rounds (as available at the facility) i.e., wound rounds, or dysphagia rounds.
+ Develops and implements educational programs for patients and staff. Works with the patient to identify a nutrition education plan and sets achievable goals.
+ Keeps current with nutritional practices and theories. Maintains current ADA requirements, (i.e., Professional Portfolio, self-development, and continuing education classes.)
+ Oversees Food and Nutrition departmental office systems, including diet cards, place cards, ordering nutritional supplements, etc. Utilizes the electronic patient information system as needed.

The Dietitian is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing dietary interventions tailored to the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Essential Functions
Nutritional Assessment: Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for individuals with IDD to identify dietary needs, preferences, and potential health risks.
Individualized Meal Planning: Develop and implement customized meal plans that accommodate specific health conditions, preferences, and cultural considerations.
Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, caregivers, and families to ensure a holistic approach to nutrition and health.

Job Description
TITLE: Dietitian Inpatient

What you will be doing:
•Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Clinical Dietitian plans, directs and provides nutritional care to patients, conducts nutrition assessments, and supervises the work of Food Production Supervisor directly related to clinical patient services.
•Interviews patients and/or family to obtain information regarding food habits and preferences for guidance in planning the patient's diet as appropriate.
•Screens medical records for pertinent information and documents assessments as needed per established guidelines.
•Calculates diets for diabetic patients and other modified diets, and provides diet counseling for all patients on modified diets who require it.
•Assesses and calculates enteral and parenteral feedings.
•Charts appropriately in the patient's medical records after each patient contact, utilizing the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process.
•Reviews cycle menus for patients prior to implementation. Reviews diet manual.
•Serves as a resource for foodservice staff to assist in providing accurate diets per documented order.
•Participates in Community Nutritional Programs.
•Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.

Requirements
What they are looking for:
•Bachelor's degree in Medical Dietetics and/or nutrition.
•Registered Dietitian with at least 2 years experience. Prefer membership to the American Dietetic Association and/or professional members to a renal association i.e. CRN. Current state licensure.
•Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.

•Position is full-time days Monday-Friday. No weekends or holidays. 8 hour days with flexible hours.
•Range starts at $56500 and goes up with experience.
