Enforce dietary program and advise clients appropriately on food choices
Demonstrate understanding of the medical consequences of eating disorders, the hazards of re-feeding and how to avoid complications
Ability to implement specific dietary exchange patterns through knowledge of portion size and caloric recommendations
Facilitate family sessions and education; including therapeutic meals; as appropriate
Communication with medical doctor, as needed, regarding any medical problems that may require dietary intervention. Communication with psychiatrist where applicable.

1. Provide medical nutrition therapy for a variety of conditions, including pediatrics, women's health, eating disorders, weight loss, diabetes, pre-diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome and more.
2. Utilize motivational interviewing to counsel individuals and families while developing nutrition-focused plans that meet their unique needs and health goals, while being culturally and socio-demographically sensitive.
3. Continue to implement personalized and goal-appropriate nutrition strategies with patient follow-ups and communication with physicians.
4. Document and maintain patient's electronic medical records (EPIC) to reflect completeness, accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements and expectations.
5. Keep abreast of current nutrition science, research findings, and dietary guidelines to provide evidence-based advice.
6. Attend occasional local public forums and health fairs promoting improved health through nutritional education. Develop or obtain appropriate literature and collateral materials for distribution.

We are currently looking to add a part-time - 8 hours per week Registered Dietician to joirn our Wellness Center located in Bridgeport, CT. Join our team-based model of care delivered in a kind and compassionate manner.
POSITION SUMMARY
The registered dietician (RD) will serve as a clinician in our primary care areas to support the nutritional needs of our primary care patients. The population served is the general adult, pediatric, and prenatal patient population in a federally qualified healthcare center. The RD may occasionally attend, present, or promote nutritional education at local health fairs. The RD will demonstrate a sense of urgency and timeliness to ensure academic and management services are in place to provide clinical excellence and deliver high-quality care to our patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide medical nutrition therapy for a variety of conditions, including pediatrics, women's health, eating disorders, weight loss, diabetes, pre-diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome and more.
2. Utilize motivational interviewing to counsel individuals and families while developing nutrition-focused plans that meet their unique needs and health goals, while being culturally and socio-demographically sensitive.
3. Continue to implement personalized and goal-appropriate nutrition strategies with patient follow-ups and communication with physicians.
4. Document and maintain patient's electronic medical records (EPIC) to reflect completeness, accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements and expectations.
5. Keep abreast of current nutrition science, research findings, and dietary guidelines to provide evidence-based advice.
6. Attend occasional local public forums and health fairs promoting improved health through nutritional education. Develop or obtain appropriate literature and collateral materials for distribution.
7. Meet regularly with clinical and support colleagues to find and provide guidance as appropriate to staff, nursing, and medical team members.
8. Treat patients, the public, and co-workers professionally at all times.
9. Provides support to other on-site departments requiring records and documents; responds to external agencies, physicians, and health care organizations within established protocols.
10. May be assigned other duties and responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Professional positive attitude, vision, understanding of customer service principals, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills to successfully accomplish tasks necessary to meet high standards of ethical and social responsibility required by this position.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
• This position requires a bachelor's degree in Dietetics with three years of experience preferred as a Registered Dietitian with one-on-one counseling (internship hours do not count as applicable work experience).
• Candidates must demonstrate leadership skills, self-motivation, and independence.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, listen, and interact with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds is a requirement.
• Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD) and CDN must be maintained at all times.
EXPERIENCE: Three years of related health care experience preferred; knowledge of or education in nutritional needs of general patient population ; customer service focused. Previous experience in patient and community education. Familiarity with tele-medicine and prior experience a plus
