PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Provides nutritional services for the facility's in-center and home patients as applicable in order to maximize the patient's nutritional status and improve clinical outcomes. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, supporting the FMCNA commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAI) activities. Actively participates in process improvement activities that enhance the likelihood that patients will achieve their individualized patient-specific goals as determined by the patient's physician.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assesses patient's knowledge of diet and kidney disease and provides education appropriate to patient's learning needs regarding the relationship of diet and kidney disease and the impact on the treatment process.
* Provides patient specific detailed education to patient/family/caregiver regarding nutritional status, adequacy measures and results, fluid status, and all nutrition related lab parameters pertaining to their disease process.
* Completes nutritional assessment and participates in the interdisciplinary comprehensive assessments.
* Participates with the interdisciplinary team in the development of a written, individualized comprehensive plan of care that specifies the services necessary to address the patient's needs, in accordance with established Federal and, where applicable, state licensure guidelines.
* Calculates diet prescription according to standard of practice.
* Completes progress notes on all chronic dialysis patients according to established FMCNA guidelines. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of all appropriate information in medical record according to established FMCNA policies and Federal and state regulations.
* Provides patient with ongoing nutrition assessment and outcome-oriented nutrition counseling necessary to assist patient in achieving and sustaining an effective nutritional status.
* Identifies malnourished patients as well as patients at risk for malnutrition and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to identify appropriate interventions, resources or solutions. Reviews each patient's albumin level and body weight at least monthly. Implements plan of care with involvement of patient/family/caregiver.
* Monitors adherence and response to nutrition therapy, adjusts therapy as needed to achieve and sustain an effective nutritional status, documents why the patient was unable to achieve the goals and implements the plan of care to address issues impacting the patient's ability to achieve the goals.
* Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team on Urea Kinetic Modeling recommendations to achieve the physician's prescription of Kt/V.
* Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team on management and recommendations for mineral metabolism and renal bone disease, anemia and iron status, nutritional status, psychosocial status, vascular access, modality, rehabilitation status and sodium/volume control.
* Adheres to FMCNA algorithm and medical record policies.
* Reports on nutrition QAI results and participates in the interdisciplinary QAI program.
* Collaborates and coordinates with team members in provision of Pre-ESRD education as appropriate.
* When appropriate, works with Case Manager to coordinate plan of care for patient education and identifies candidates to refer to physician for nutritional supplements, as per disease management agreements.
* Reviews nutrition related lab results:
* Counsels patient and/or caregiver and formulates appropriate action.
* Recommends treatment changes to the interdisciplinary team as appropriate.
* Communicates with physician and/or facility staff regarding lab results as appropriate.
* Communicates lab results and recommended treatment changes to providers of patient care in nursing facilities (i.e., hospitals, short term and long-term care facilities).
* Participates in pertinent staff meetings (i.e., general staff, quality improvement), Care plan meetings, and others as applicable.
* Consults with FMS Corporate Dietitian regarding nutrition concerns as needed.
* Maintains and improves knowledge and skills for a competent and innovative practice.
* Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education hours as specified by American Dietetic Association and state licensure regulations where applicable.
* Collaborates with interdisciplinary team, ensuring that all work areas are safe and clean.
* Other nutrition management duties as assigned.

This position plays a critical role in supporting athlete performance at altitude and throughout the demands of a full Major League season, including Spring Training and extensive travel. This position will be based in Scottsdale, AZ, during Spring Training and Denver, CO, during the regular season, with travel required throughout the season.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Major League Nutrition Leadership
Lead all aspects of performance nutrition for the Major League roster year-round.
Develop and execute performance-optimized meal plans tailored to altitude, travel, recovery, and individual player needs.
Provide individualized nutrition counseling, education, and ongoing support for Major League players.
Deliver group and individual education sessions focused on fueling, hydration, recovery, body composition, and supplementation (in compliance with MLB policy).

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Major League Performance Dietitian is responsible for leading and delivering the nutrition strategy for the Colorado Rockies Major League team. This role serves as the primary nutrition authority for Major League players, with a strong emphasis on performance fueling, recovery, education, and collaboration with the Club's culinary partner, FLIK.
This position plays a critical role in supporting athlete performance at altitude and throughout the demands of a full Major League season, including Spring Training and extensive travel. The ideal candidate is a trusted practitioner who can balance hands-on player engagement with vendor partnership, education, and cross-functional collaboration.
This position will be based in Scottsdale, AZ, during Spring Training and Denver, CO, during the regular season, with travel required throughout the season.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Major League Nutrition Leadership
Lead all aspects of performance nutrition for the Major League roster year-round.
Develop and execute performance-optimized meal plans tailored to altitude, travel, recovery, and individual player needs.
Provide individualized nutrition counseling, education, and ongoing support for Major League players.
Deliver group and individual education sessions focused on fueling, hydration, recovery, body composition, and supplementation (in compliance with MLB policy).
Conducts nutritional and hydration assessments for Major League players to support peak performance, recovery, and health.
Vendor Management & Culinary Partnership
Serve as the primary point of contact for FLIK Athletics for all Major League nutrition operations.
Collaborate with FLIK to design, evaluate, and continuously improve daily clubhouse meals, pre-game and post-game offerings, and special fueling needs.
Ensure alignment between the Rockies' nutrition philosophy, performance goals, and vendor execution.
Partner in menu planning, quality control, and feedback loops with players and staff.
Collaboration & Performance Integration
Work closely with strength & conditioning, athletic training, medical, and sports science staff to support holistic player performance.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to broader athlete performance strategies.
Support rehabilitation and return-to-play nutrition planning as appropriate.
Travel & Seasonal Commitments
Be present for the full duration of Spring Training in Scottsdale, AZ.
Travel extensively with the Major League team throughout the regular season and postseason as required.
Coordinate nutrition logistics for Major League road trips in collaboration with team operations and culinary partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Exercise Science, or a related field.
RegisteredDietitian (RD/RDN) credential, meeting MLB CBA requirements for a Major League Dietitian.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional or elite-level sports nutrition.
Strong knowledge of sports nutrition science, performance fueling, and recovery strategies.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).
Master's degree in Sports Nutrition or related field.
Professional baseball experience or major league sports.
Fluency in English and Spanish.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position requires a high level of flexibility and availability consistent with the demands of a Major League Baseball season, including extended hours, travel, and non-traditional schedules, within a dynamic, performance-driven environment where schedules are fluid, and flexibility is essential to supporting player health, readiness, and competitive success. Consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance is a key requirement of this role.
Spring Training (Scottsdale, AZ): Monday through Sunday, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Schedule includes daily on-site work, games, and frequent road or day trips to nearby Spring Training facilities.
Major League Regular Season (Denver, CO & Travel): Monday through Sunday, including home games, road trips, holidays, evenings, and weekends. Extensive travel with the Major League team is required throughout the season, including overnight and multi-city road trips. The game schedule and team needs dictate work hours and may vary significantly week to week.
Off-Season: Generally Monday through Friday; however, evening and weekend availability is required as needed to support player programming, planning meetings, training oversight, and organizational initiatives.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced professional baseball environment, including clubhouses, training facilities, stadiums, and travel settings.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, particularly during meal service, team activities, meetings, and on-field or facility-based work.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull food items, supplies, and equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions associated with food service setup, organization, and operational tasks.
Ability to travel frequently by car, plane, and other means, including short-notice and multi-day travel during Spring Training, the championship season, and affiliate visits.
Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the baseball schedule.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with players, coaches, medical staff, vendors, and clubhouse personnel in both individual and group settings.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor facilities and exposure to varying temperatures.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Annual Salary: $80,000 to $95,000
This full-time position is eligible for the Club's benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, game tickets, employee discounts, and other benefits according to plan eligibility.

Experience

The Colorado Blood Cancer Institute Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program has performed over 5000 stem cell transplants since it's beginning in 1991. It is among the top blood and marrow transplant programs in the US. This position will support the mission of CBCI within HCA Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center. The Dietitian II position with CBCI performs both inpatient and outpatient duties as part of the clinical dietitian rotation.
This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The BMT Clinical Dietitian II is responsible for the nutrition care of assigned patients, assesses nutritional needs, develops and implements nutrition care plans based on the nutritional and educational needs of individual patients, provides nutritional counseling, monitors response to therapeutic diet/support, and sets up home nutritional services. The Dietitian II will maintain advanced certifications with emphasis on the CNSC, CDCES, or CSO. Communicates with medical & nursing staff, employees, patients and families, and other health care professionals to assure that individual patient care needs are met. Participates in department quality management programs and performance improvement projects. Provides updates to the team on clinical research. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements:
* RegisteredDietitian (RD) or RegisteredDietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or the American Dietetic Association and has obtained one or more of the following specialty certifications (or will obtain said certification within 1 year of hire date): Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist Oncology, Certified Diabetes Educator.
