Part-Time; 2 days/week; 16 hours.
$51 per hour.
Registered Dietitian Introduction:
Work effectively with the Clinical team to provide comprehensive nutrition support for our acute, and long-term care residents.
Registered Dietitian Qualifications:
Active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) registration through the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.
MS or BS degree plus completion of a dietetic internship program.
At least one year of experience in Long Term Care.
Knowledge of current best practices in medical nutrition therapy.
Strong knowledge of State and Federal regulatory guidelines, MDS and standards impacting Clinical Nutrition department in Long Term Care.
Excellent client services, organization and communication skills are essential.
Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Point Click Care.
Registered Dietitian Job Summary:
Develop and make recommendations to the Food Service Director to implement dietary and food service policies and procedures to meet residents' needs.
Develop menus to meet residents' dietary needs.
Assess and document nutritional needs of residents in accordance with the comprehensive assessment and care plan.
Review and plan all regular and therapeutic diets and menus.
Approve all permanent menu substitutions.
Counsel residents regarding dietary likes and dislikes, appetite, food habits and therapeutic menus.
Assess and document residents' food allergies and cultural backgrounds that may affect food consumption.
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the serving time of meals, sanitation and food handling procedures.
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding food service equipment.
Evaluate food for nutritional adequacy, method of preparation, taste, appearance, serving temperature and portion size.
Assist Food Service Director in adjusting recipes for desired yield.
Plan and conduct in-service training programs for food service employees, nurses and nursing assistants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains continuing education requirements by attending mandatory in-services and staff meetings as required.
7. Provides consultation to the hospital dietary staff and Long-Term Care programs.
Develops short- and long-term goals and objectives in consultation with administration and consistent with hospital philosophy.
Serves as a resource for long term care nutrition functions and activities to achieve objectives and comply with national, state and voluntary regulatory requirements.
Establishes patient care standards and standards of nutrition practice.
Establishes and implements policies and procedures for provision of quality nutrition care.
Establishes and evaluates standards of nutrition performance to measure, evaluate, and enhance resident care and resident safety.
Established quality improvement indicators, monitors outcomes & implements change processes to ensure quality patient/ resident care.
Keeps Administrator informed of nutrition activities, needs, and problems.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
