PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations.
· Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other RegisteredNurses.
· Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre - during - post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record, makes adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Physician as needed.
· Assesses, collaborates, and documents patient/family's basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family.
· Directs and provides, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients.
· Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
· Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
· Serves as a resource for health care team, participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned.
· Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
· Identifies expected outcomes, documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
· Ensures patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options.
· Required to complete CAP requirements to advance.

SUMMARY

Patient Care:

Clinic/Pre-surgery:

Ensure patient has appropriate caregiver to take and care for patient at home.
Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
Obtain all required items for surgery including clearance/labs/special order supplies.
Perioperative:
Develops an individualized perioperative plan of care
Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
Assess patient's perioperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient's
o cardiovascular system,
o respiratory system and airway management needs,
o neurological system,
o hemodynamic stability,
o pain and comfort needs, and
o mental status.
Implement plan of care for patients during surgery
o respiratory/airway management
o pain control/comfort management
o fluid/electrolyte and IV maintenance
o proper positioning
o protection from infection
o maintain normothermic status
o manage patient's other co-morbid conditions if applicable
o communicating the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care;
o performing interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels; performing interventions to protect patient from infection

Emergency Care:

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a RegisteredNurse (RN), with at least 1-2 years of experience in a surgical or circulating nurse role, preferably in a plastic surgery, dermatology, or cosmetic surgery setting.
Experience with plastic surgery procedures, such as facelifts, breast augmentations, liposuction, and rhinoplasty is highly preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
RegisteredNurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required, depending on the clinical setting.
Certification in perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR) may be preferred for surgical roles.
