Investigate/coordinates all follow up of needle stick/ sharps/blood-borne pathogen exposures to infectious diseases, direct employee to the emergency department and provide prophylaxis as ordered by the physician when indicated. Completes pre-employment screenings for physicians, caregivers and volunteers. Processes screening results with the individual and ancillary department if needed, and directs appropriate action when indicated. Contacts all injured caregivers upon receipt of the initial event report, conducts initial post-injury interview, provides minor first aide care, coordinates initial medical referral if necessary and files the Employers First Report of Injury with the third party administrator (TPA) and the Department of Labor.
