You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RegisteredNurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

The HCWs shall provide services within the scope of their competencies, the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following:
The HCW will manage care for the patients of the Health and Wellness Department within the Health and Wellness and Disease Prevention domain to promote effective education, self-management support, and timely health care delivery to help improve patient's health and wellness efforts.
The HCW will collect, analyze, interpret, and evaluate data to assess trends and developments to target the population and deliver Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) services directly to patients.
The HCW will assess education needs of patients and their families. Ensures education of patients and family members. Provides verbal and written instructions to the patient and family on matters pertaining to self-management and self-efficacy in the management of chronic conditions and/or improvement of health and wellness related outcomes.

As requested, the HCW will provide input and technical guidance on issues related to the Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) program.
The HCW will coordinate and deliver reports to Health and Wellness teams. Consult and collaborate with already existing departments, command, and community programs to ensure appropriate utilization of resources to meet the patients' health and wellness goals.
The HCW will provide primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of intervention to promote effective education, self-management support, and timely health care delivery to improve the patient's health and wellness efforts.
The HCW will educate patients in understanding disease processes, impact of disease on overall health and wellness, and apply strategies including motivational interviewing and theoretical change model to improve health-patient engagement.

The HCW will evaluate achievement of learning objectives by the patient and/or family and provide appropriate follow-up in accordance with the patient's treatment goals, referring patients to specialty and community services as appropriate.
The HCW will assess educational needs and provide health promotion and disease prevention counseling for patients, family members and groups about modifications and/or specific nursing interventions.
The HCW will employ adult learning behavior change theories and teaching techniques to conduct a variety of individual and group health promotion and disease prevention interventions.
The HCW will provide expertise to implement and evaluate health promotion and disease prevention education programs for all populations.
The HCW will communicate and coordinate health promotion and wellness-based programs among local leadership and target beneficiary populations.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Possess a Master's degree in Nursing, Health Promotion, Education, Community/Public Health or Wellness, or a Health Science related field from an accredited university.
* Experience: Possess at least two years of full-time experience as a health educator within the last four years working with Health Promotions and Wellness campaigns to include tobacco/nicotine cessation, diabetes prevention/management, weight management, stress management, sleep psychoeducation, nutrition, exercise, heart health, or disease management/prevention. Job Summary
The RN is responsible for the quality; adequacy of services provided and may, where required, supervise staff. The RN is responsible for ensuring that care is delivered appropriately and the standards of quality are adhered to.
The RN is responsible for working with the Qualicare leadership team and other medical disciplines (i.e., PT, OT, SLP) to ensure coordinated services and that all of the client's needs are identified through the assessment process and addressed through the implementation of the Plan of Care and re-evaluation and supervisory process.
The RN builds from the resources of the community to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individuals and families within their homes and communities.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities
Completes an initial assessment of patient and family to determine Home Care and Home Health needs. Provides a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illness(es).
Regularly re-evaluates patient nursing needs
Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions as patient status and needs change
Uses health assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis
Develops a care plan, which establishes goals based on nursing diagnosis and incorporates therapeutic, preventitive, and rehabilitative nursing actions. Includes the patient and the family in the planning process.
Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician. Provides direct patient care as defined in the State Nurse Practice Act.
Counsels the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs
Provides health care instructions to the patient as appropriate per assessment and plan of care
Identifies discharge planning needs as part of the care plan development and implements prior to discharge of the patient
Acts as Case Manager when assigned by Clinical Supervisor and assumes responsibility to coordinate patient care for assigned caseload.
Communication:
Prepares clinical notes and updates the primary physician when necessary and at least every 60 days
Communicates with the physician regarding patient's needs and reports any changes in the patients condition; obtains / receives physician's orders as required
Communicates with community health related persons to coordinate the care plan
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Minimum of 1 year licensed experience (California)
Current licensure in state and CPR certification
Bachelor's degree, with one (1) year of home health care experience preferred
Management experience not required
Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, basic math skills and nursing skills
Licensed driver with automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with the organization requirements

The HCW will manage care for the patients of the Health and Wellness Department within the Health and Wellness and Disease Prevention domain to promote effective education, self-management support, and timely health care delivery to help improve patient's health and wellness efforts.
The HCW will collect, analyze, interpret, and evaluate data to assess trends and developments to target the population and deliver Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) services directly to patients.

The HCW will provide primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of intervention to promote effective education, self-management support, and timely health care delivery to improve the patient's health and wellness efforts.
The HCW will educate patients in understanding disease processes, impact of disease on overall health and wellness, and apply strategies including motivational interviewing and theoretical change model to improve health-patient engagement.

The HCW will evaluate achievement of learning objectives by the patient and/or family and provide appropriate follow-up in accordance with the patient's treatment goals, referring patients to specialty and community services as appropriate.
The HCW will assess educational needs and provide health promotion and disease prevention counseling for patients, family members and groups about modifications and/or specific nursing interventions.
The HCW will employ adult learning behavior change theories and teaching techniques to conduct a variety of individual and group health promotion and disease prevention interventions.
The HCW will provide expertise to implement and evaluate health promotion and disease prevention education programs for all populations.
The HCW will communicate and coordinate health promotion and wellness-based programs among local leadership and target beneficiary populations.
