As such, this performance evaluation is based on these standards. RNs working in the below specialty areas are required to complete and maintain certifications as listed: Cath Lab - ACLS Cardiac Rehab - ACLS Congestive Heart Failure - ACLS Cardiovascular Surgery - ACLS Emergency Department - ACLS, PALS, TNCC Intensive Care Units - ACLS Labor & Delivery - ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) Medical Nursing - OB/GYN - PALS Nursery - NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) Pediatrics - PALS PACU/Recovery - ACLS, PALS RNs have 12 months, from the date they begin working in the specialty area, to acquire the appropriate certification and 18 months to acquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department. Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training. Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program. Reports to: Patient Care Manager Supervises: LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians Physical Demands: Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard. Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision. Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes may be instituted according to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends. Mental Demands: Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required. Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations. Special Demands: Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: Current state licensure and BCLS required, ACLS/PALS preferred. Prefer two (2) years' experience as a Registered Nurse. Eligibility: All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States. Skills/Knowledge/Ability: Participates as a team member for planning and implementation of patient care and promotes positive first impression of Bienville Surgery Center to our patients and/or families. Assesses and coordinates data submitted by the provider's offices and coordinates the process of obtaining information such as history and physicals, orders, etc. Develops a good working relationship with the provider's staff. Initiates and completes the pre-operative call for patients scheduled for surgery and acquires a detailed medical history and performs a risk assessment for all patients. Pre-screens for any special health history that may include: cardiac clearance, history of heart issues, history of diabetes, BMI discrepancies. Communicates any issues found during the pre-admission assessment to the clinical director, administrator, anesthesiologist and any other pertinent staff. Exemplifies comprehension of nursing concepts and problem solving skills. Demonstrates knowledge of Center policies which govern patient care. Serves as back-up staff in Pre-Op/PACU as needed. Will perform any other duties as requested by clinical director that are within the staff member's scope of practice and ability. Possesses organizational skills which include prioritization, planning, assessing, implementing, evaluation, teaching and time management. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as a team member and the ability to act efficiently and rationally in an emergent situation. MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Telephone and fax. Standard surgery center machinery and equipment, including patient monitors.
