Anticipates and provides equipment and supplies in a timely manner and organized manner based on the needs of the patient and surgeon.
Creates and maintains a sterile field by using principles of aseptic practice in varying situations, initiates corrective action when break in technique occurs, communicates/documents maintenance of sterile field.
Performs count by following established policy and procedures, initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect, and communicates/documents results of counts.
Anticipates and provides safe anatomical positioning based on the needs of the patient and surgeon in accordance to policy and procedure.
Monitors and controls the OR Suite environment (temperature, humidity, and sensory) maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to OR sanitation policies.
Handles/ transports/ stores/ prepares/ specimens/administers medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Return equipment and supplies to proper place and prepare OR room for next case.
Uses supplies judiciously and documents patient charges completely and accurately.
Facilitates staff development, assists with the orientation and training of new personnel, and participates in the development of educational program for co-workers.

Formal Education / Training:
Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
BLS within 90 days of hire.
At least one year perinatal experience preferred.
Certified Lactation Consultant, preferred.
NRP within six months of hire.
ACLS certification or agree to obtain within six months of hire.
Level I, Level II and fetal monitoring within 1 year of hire.

Able to function in stressful situations.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Performs a comprehensive assessment on all patients within the appropriate time of admission utilizing skills of observation, communication and examination; including data obtained from patient, family and other members of the healthcare team.
Plans the patient's care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems and attainable outcomes.
Plans for patient teaching, discharge and post discharge needs as appropriate for patient population.
Functions independently with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherence to policy, procedure and competency based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem.
Handles/ transports/ stores/ prepares/ administers medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Documents accurately and timely.
Reassess patient's condition, evaluate patient response and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner.
Accepts charge responsibilities and assigns staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirement, acuity and complexity of patient's condition. Facilitates Staff development.
