Job Duties
Provide nursing care within adult institutions by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating institutional patients per the standards of practice.
Standard of care is achieved through a multitude of services to include 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life supporting/emergency care.
Document all pertinent information into the health record while practicing confidentiality and interfacing with other departments on an as-needed basis.
RegisteredNurses possess the ability to delegate tasks/workload and work hours, days, and locations as assigned.
RegisteredNurses are capable and available to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs.
To provide evidence-based nursing care and promote continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing.
Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
* Possess and maintain valid unrestricted Virginia RN license (if you are a recent graduate of a nursing program in VA and not yet licensed, NCLEX-RN Exam must be scheduled at time of application)
* Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire

Clinical Care Delivery Operations
Directs, supervises the management of the team members in the skilled nursing center.

Monitors each resident's medication and treatment profile and medication pass process regularly to ensure each medication and treatment is administered as ordered and documented accurately.
Reviews for accuracy and compliance all physician orders at time of move in and monthly thereafter.
Acts as liaison with pharmacy to ensure effective services for the residents.
Ensures pharmacy follows state regulations for labeling, distribution and identification of medications.
Develops a thorough working knowledge of current and evolving federal and state regulations, policies and procedures for resident care and services.
Ensures that community follows all state regulations as it pertains to guest/resident care and services.
Reviews, develops and implements plans of correction for concerns and or issues identified by regulators.
Completes and submits all monthly and quarterly reports in a timely manner.
Follows through on mock survey process.
Financial Management
Assists in the presentation and value of Sunrise's products and services for our residents, families and team members and targeted referral sources.
Assists the executive director in completing the annual community budget.
Understands and manages the department budget to include labor and other expenses and it's impact on the community's bottom line.
Reviews monthly financial statements and implements plans of action around deficiencies.
Processes and submits monthly expenses and budget data timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls.
Coordinates with the community team to achieve maximum staff economies and cross training when applicable.
Understands the internal cost associated with all Sunrise resident care programs.
Training, Leadership and Team Member Development
Manages the department, including but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and disciplining.
Partners in the delivery and participation in Sunrise University Training and self study programs during the required timeframe.
Develops a working knowledge of state regulations and ensures compliance through supervising and coaching team members.
Achieves the Team Member Engagement goals and actively leads in the Engagement Improvement Planning sessions.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus five years of post-licensure experience as a nurse in an equivalent health care setting whose focus was primarily prevention services and community education, including three years in a public health/community health setting. Qualifying experience may include experience in ambulatory care settings such as outpatient clinics that incorporate community outreach/education as part of services or specialty settings that incorporate teaching, community outreach, resource referrals, etc. as part of a health care continuum; Plus at least one year of supervisory experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

Valid motor vehicle driver's license.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (within 30 days of appointment)
