The Critical Care RegisteredNurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in a variety of critical care settings. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities include monitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management, medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central line care, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient's status. The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.
Minimum Requirements:
Current RegisteredNurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
One year of critical care experience is preferred
Minimum of one year acute or critical care experience preferred

Responsibilities
Work in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within a mixed medical-surgical ICU setting
Acute care environment with 16 beds
Patient population includes post-cardiac surgery recovery (mitral/aortic/tricuspid valve replacements, CABG, AAA repair) and general med-surg ICU cases
Average caseload includes 1 cardiac surgery patient and up to 12 general med-surg ICU patients daily
Night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am
Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) required
Expected to float, with travelers considered first to float
Uses Cerner EMR system
On-call requirement applies
Primary responsibilities include caring for patients recovering from open-heart surgeries and other cardiovascular procedures
No medical assistants or CNAs are used on this unit
Navy blue scrubs are required
Holiday coverage is expected
Orientation consists of 3 shifts (12 hours each)
First-day testing on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes may be required
Candidates may not have been employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
Requirements
Active unrestricted CA RN license required at the time of application
Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience, including immediate post-op cardiac surgery recovery
Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and proof of COVID vaccination
Experience with IABP, CRRT, and ECMO preferred but not required
Must provide 2 professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
Copy of driver's license required
Must pass a proctored CVICU exam and interview with the unit manager via Zoom prior to offer
