Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
The unit is a 22-bed Neuro/Surgical ICU, with neuro being the primary focus. We admit a vast array of patients including Strokes with and without TNK administration, head trauma, craniotomies, aneurysm repairs, ICP monitoring, EVD placement/monitoring, and organ procurement. From a surgical standpoint, we care for all patients out of PACU (GI, ORTHO, SPINAL, etc.) with exception to any open hearts. We also admit medical ICU patients and on occasion will take overflow cardiac patients. The floor often has many bedside procedures; chest tube, bronchoscopy, and EGD, to name a few. We have great teamwork and a family atmosphere.
Responsibilities:

Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice.
Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or care givers; identify issues and resources.

Educates patient on importance of the post facility discharge follow up appointment with the physician, on obtaining all necessary prescriptions prior to discharge from the hospital and confirm patient's understanding of medication, pharmacy, and delivery method
Serves as a liaison between the LHC Group agency and all involved healthcare providers of newly referred patients as well as existing patients transferred to the hospital from the home health agency
Communicates to discharge planning any active patients that transfer from home health into a Facility and coordinates resumption of care with patient prior to discharge if applicable orders are obtained

Provide nursing care to children include monitoring vital signs, administering medications and educating on various health concerns

Support and enforce infection-control policies, develop care plans for the medical isolation population following regulatory standards

Communicate with direct program administration to report medical incidents
Organize and deliver regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate present, on-going, future updates of pertinent information, projects, and initiatives
Work in collaboration with leadership and the People and Culture Team to arrange training; when needed, coordinate and/or provide in-service training for staff, development and work closely with the management team to interview, hire, and onboard new employees who are strong cultural fits for Upbring
Regularly review employee performance, including goals and progress to provide developmental feedback: use applicable agency development tools to facilitate growth and development, draft and issue the 90-day and annual evaluations, along with supporting documentation, as per established procedures; work in collaboration with staff to set goals during evaluation periods
