JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Pre-Op/PACU manager, the PACU nurse is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all time.
At times, assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate.
Responsible for providing total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.
Experienced in supporting the following specialties:
Orthopedics
Neurosurgery / Spine
Pain Management
Sports Medicine
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Must have at least 1 year of previous experience in PreOP/PACU
Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
Must have current BLS, ALS, and PALS
Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
Ability to quickly adapt to the changing condition of the patient when needed
Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients, and physicians.

JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse PACU & Pre-Op independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care and policy and procedure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Performs thorough admission assessment, utilizes appropriate interview techniques to obtain history within the time frame of unit policy and provides appropriate intervention.

· Knowledge of medication dosages for patient population served. Administers medication safely and accurately, and utilizes available resources when questions arise.
· Initiates and coordinates patient/family teaching using individualized effective teaching methods.
· Evaluates outcomes of care to determine if patient needs were met.
· Collaborate with patient, family, the inter-professional team, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
· Computerized documentation and paper forms completed fully; no blanks left and are legible.

· Follows hospital standards related to Kronos system.

· Identifies standards of care common to patient population, i.e. age specifics and barriers to learning.
· Willingly assists as needed in all peri-anesthesia settings including the preoperative area & PACU.

· Maintains the principles of confidentiality and HIPPA. Understands the legal/regulatory requirements related to the release of information. Able to use the information systems pertinent to the job.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
· 1-2 years of PACU experience required, 1 year of critical care RN experience strongly preferred.
· Experience as required in posting for dept.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows

Ensures medical records and reports arecurrent and complete in accordance with regulatory and corporate standards, including medication administration records and physicians orders
Maintains contact with primary care physicians and specialists, and, when directed, attends doctor visits with mentor and/or individual receiving services.
Promotes health and wellness for individuals and ensures nursing actions and steps are put in place for prevention
Administers medications according to established guidelines
Provides documentation for all medications given and reviews medication administration records for compliance
Oversees the management of high-risk medical conditions and private duty nursing services
Develops training flow charts specific to each individual receiving services, provides and documents medical skills training to clients, mentors, respite providers, staff, and where appropriate, the biological family
Presents medical skills components at Pre-service Orientation
Participates as an Individual Health Plan (IHP) or Plan of Care (POC) team member,
Evaluates the medical needs of each individual for initial IHP/POC,

Responsibilities:
Assists the clinician in delivering patient care including taking vital signs, preparing immunizations, dressing changes, pulse oximetry and respiratory treatments and other required procedures. Accurately and efficiently documents findings, plans and interventions in the medical record. Evaluates the effectiveness of care and documents subsequent changes to plan or follow up on medical record.
Assesses individual physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of patients. Preprocesses and post processes the patient chart for each clinic visit. Establishes or reviews plan of care and modifies as needed based on assessment. Implements the established plan of care competently and consistently. Demonstrates advanced clinical and technical skills and can accurately assess and intervene when deviations from expected outcomes occur.
Identifies specific education needs for patients/families. Accesses and utilizes appropriate teaching tools and techniques to facilitate patient/family education. Utilizes appropriate style and level of communication. Evaluates and documents effectiveness of teaching plan.
Responsible for documenting contacts, chart notes and other required data in medical record and the pertinent information systems used by the clinic including Immunization Databases, Provide Case Management CMS, Specialty SNAQ Reports, Epic and other systems as required.
Monitors the quality of practice within HIV infected/exposed patient population by participating in continuous quality improvement program.
Participates as a member of the healthcare team and acts as liaison between patients, families and the clinical team to ensure quality customer service. Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking an Operating Room Nurse for our ambulatory surgery center who demonstrates the values of our company by caring like family. You will be an amazing addition to our team by contributing your expertise in the circulating or scrub role. You will ensure safe and effective nursing care until your patient is transferred from your care to recovery.
What you will do in this role:
Oversee the instrument and equipment set-up for your OR, including utilization of preference cards and ability to anticipate your surgeons needs
Coordinate and oversee your room during a case as the circulator
You will facilitate effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures
Utilize appropriate body mechanics in moving your patients to stretchers and OR tables to prevent injury
Manage your patients care and medication, including assistance with anesthesia
Consistently review your charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the surgical procedure
Qualifications you will need:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure
Valid BCLS Certification upon employment ***online certification not acceptable
ACLS as required by facility
CNOR certification preferred

Qualifications
- Must have and maintain an active, unencumbered license (LPN/LVN) in the state in which the clinician will practice
o Compact licenses must be transferred to your state of residence within 90 days
- Current CPR certification (with hands-on component)- Aveanna can assist in obtaining this requirement after hire, if necessary.
- TB skin test (current within last 12 months)
- Six months prior hands-on nursing experience preferred but not required
- Must have reliable transportation
