Plans, coordinates, and provides total nursing care for residents. The scope of work may be modified by state-specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
* Assesses and documents the resident's condition and nursing need.
* Accurately and promptly implements physician's orders.
* Assigns nursing care to team members in accordance with the resident's needs and the person's capabilities and qualifications.
* Initiates and leads team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans.
* Supervises directs and evaluates LPN's LVN's and C N A's.
* Administers medications, and performs treatment for residents and documents the treatment as required by Regency, state and federal rules and regulations.
* Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act.
* Ensures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
* Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
* Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
* Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents.
* Participates in counseling, disciplinary action and termination of staff, to the extent permitted by state practice act.
* Answer resident call lights and ensure that all residents are checked frequently.
* Any suspected abuse must be reported to the Director of Nursing/Administrator immediately.
* Perform other tasks as assigned

Educational Requirements and Experience:
* Graduate of accredited RN School of Nursing
* Valid RN license in State of Alabama
* Valid CPR certification
* One year of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities
The On Call RN is scheduled to make patient visits each week. The On Call RN may be able to resolve some issues by phone. However, many "after hours" and/or weekend phone calls will require the On Call RN to make a visit.
The On Call RN agrees to be available for work-related phone calls throughout the scheduled "after hours" and/or weekend work hours. This position is responsible for supervising and performing the daily services provided to the residents of the licensed Assisted Living program at Regency Retirement Village.
Responsibilities include:

Nature and Qualifications
This position reports to the Assisted Living Service Coordinator or the Director and will work as part of the Assisted Living service team to implement the ongoing health and service programs.

Resident Care Functions:

Notify physicians of resident accidents, incidents and changes in condition
Schedule and assist with daily resident care such as bathing, dressing, serving of meals and assistance with medications
Call, receive and transcribe physician's orders for residents as necessary
Obtain and record admission and monthly weights on residents; report results to supervisor
Medication Assistance Functions:
Prepare and administer or assist with medications and medical treatments ordered by the resident's physician; verify resident identity to ensure prescribed medications are taken by the resident; notify the supervisor of all medication discrepancies; order prescribed medications as necessary; and ensure that adequate levels of medications, supplies and appropriate service equipment are available at all times, reporting needs to ALF Director
Observe and document medications that are administered. Maintain appropriate control and security of medication delivery equipment and storage areas
Monitor vital signs on routine basis for residents receiving hypertensive medications
Service Program Functions:
See that residents receive assistance with activities of daily living including medication assistance, bathing, dressing, ambulation, dining and other personal care needs
Supervise staff to carry out assessment needs and care plans
Resident's Rights Functions:
Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy
Treat residents with kindness, respect and dignity. Know and comply with Resident's Rights rules; review and promptly report to Assisted Living Director all resident complaints and grievances
Other Job Functions
Staff Development Functions:
Participate in in-service training classes as offered
Provide leadership and direction concerning essential principles for Assisted Living staff; maintain professional competence, as well as current licenses, through participation in continuing education and training programs
