Summary:
A Stepdown RegisteredNurse provides care to patients who are transitioning from intensive care to medical-surgical or general inpatient units. These patients require frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions. They assess and manage complex patient needs, administer medications and treatments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care.
Essential Work Functions:
Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, with a focus on cardiac care
Prepares equipment and aids physician during cardiac-related procedures and examinations
Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients
Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's cardiac status and response to interventions
Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies
Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients
Initiates patient education plans according to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients
Maintains confidentiality of patients and client
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Summary:
The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. Support post-procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of care
Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and fully stocked for procedures

This role requires the Paneled Nurse Practitioner to take on the role as Primary Care Provider for their assigned patient panel in coordination with the patient care team, subject to state laws regarding scope of practice and physician supervision/collaboration. This includes but is not limited to the following additional responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibility and Continuing Care for your Patient Panel: accountable for comprehensive, long-term care, ongoing treatment plans and coordination with specialists and other care providers. Responsibility for results review (imaging, laboratory testing, specialty referral and review of and follow through of recommendations from specialists).
Commitment to Long-term Patient Care: commit to managing the health of your patient panel over an extended period. This will require acute and chronic treatment plans and proactive management through prevention and education.
Accountable for the clinical outcomes and total cost of care for assigned patient panel: demonstrates proactive and sustained engagement in improving health outcomes, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring effective panel management.

Required Qualifications

Job Requirements:
Education/Skills
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred
Experience
Six months to a year of experience as a licensed RN or holder of an active GN permit
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
BLS required
RN License in state of employment or compact
Graduate Nurse Permit
Associates with an unsuccessful licensure application or on the 75th day following the effective date of the temporary permit; will be transferred to another position within CHRISTUS Health
In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
