Patient Care Type: The Infusion Therapy specialty area provides coverage daily from 7:00 am - 11:30 pm in the hospital-based outpatient Infusion Therapy Center.
Beds: 30
Nursing Team Roles: Infusion Therapy nurses are experts in the areas of intravenous medication administration, vascular access care and maintenance, PICC line placement and care, and are a resource for the Department of Nursing and institution on vascular access care and troubleshooting. The Infusion Therapy Center provides a broad variety of infusion therapy such as IV medication, IM injection, blood product administration, and therapeutic phlebotomy.

For new grad nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience, hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position on the Rochester campus of Mayo Clinic are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. A separate application or enrollment process is not required. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic, regardless of experience, will receive an extensive orientation program.
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Qualifications
Student or Graduate of a nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Job Description
1. ADVISING. Manage and oversee academic advising service for the Undergraduate Nursing department, including policy development, record-keeping, identifying concerns, and leading continuous improvement efforts to ensure a service model that best support students. Oversee development and implementation of technologies, systems, processes, and resources to support academic advisors and academic advising functions, including online advising. Coordinate and conduct advisor training for undergraduate faculty for the pre-licensure program. Lead faculty recruitment and training for participation in student registration events. Act as a college and university expert on academic advising within the department and provide input and feedback to student support areas (e.g., Admissions, Academic Affairs, Advising Services, Financial Aid, Registrars) on policy and procedure changes and their impact on students.
2. RECRUITMENT. Represent the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to prospective new and transfer students by participating in admissions and registration events. Develop and disseminate informational resources about the college's programs (Nursing, Social Work, HERS, RTTR, etc.) and refer students to appropriate faculty and staff for further guidance. Coordinate and conduct recruitment activities for the Pre-Licensure Nursing program, including designing and presenting information sessions, coordinating campus visits, and serving as the first point of contact for prospective students and families. Develop, publicize, and evaluate workshops for students and faculty on topics such as health careers, summer courses, and minors.
3. PROGRAM ADMISSIONS. Coordinate the pre-licensure BS in Nursing program admissions processes and procedures by developing workshops, documents, and communications to guide students. Communicate the program admissions requirements and processes to other WSU departments (e.g. Admissions, Equity and Inclusive Excellence, TRIO, and Access Services). Collaborate with IT to develop and enhance the online application tools. Serve as ex-officio member of Progression Committee and Holistic Admissions Work Group. Identify concerns with student progression and admission requirements, advocate for student needs, and develop recommendations to Progression Committee to address issues.
4. PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT. Serve as spokesperson and liaison for the Nursing department on academic advising matters, both within the university and externally. Keep the Dean and faculty informed on issues related to students, student academic standing, and department and university academic requirements and policies. Compile and report data for accreditation and to support proposed initiatives and changes to department policies or processes. Advocate for student needs in appropriate department committees. Provide for ongoing evaluation and improvement of services for students within the Department of Undergraduate Nursing. Serve as a member of the university advising work group, and other groups related to advising as needed. Serve as an ex-officio member of the Undergraduate Student Development Committee and Assessment Committee.
5. TEACH ORIENTATION. Teach two 1-credit sections of OR 100 (Introduction to Higher Education) for pre-nursing students per academic year. Through orientation course delivery, introduce students to services, activities, expectations, and opportunities at the university and provide them with the means to network with other students, faculty, and staff.
6. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of Winona State University. Including but not limited to participating in committees and work groups and participating in professional development opportunities.

* Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Leadership, Education or related field.

Nursing Team Roles: The professional nurse has accountability for physical assessments, patient education, and discharge planning. Continuity of care with a team approach is the care delivery model for provision of patient care. The team is comprised of nurse manager, clinical nurse specialist, nursing education specialist, staff RNs, patient care assistants, and health unit coordinators. Patients receive additional support via a multidisciplinary care model team model.
For new grad nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience, hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position on the Rochester campus of Mayo Clinic are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. A separate application or enrollment process is not required. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic, regardless of experience, will receive an extensive orientation program.
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* The RN has an advanced understanding of the Nursing Practice Process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the dialysis patient which they use while providing direct dare including physical, psychological, social, spiritual and educational needs of the patient and family.
* The RN modifies the plan of care based on the needs of the patient, consults with the medical staff about changes in the patient's condition and documents all pertinent data in the patient's medical record.
* Keeps updated on current nursing practice, medications, and legal issues related to patient-based services. Follows AAMI guidelines when preparing for dialysis.
Manages care of patients during dialysis including, but not limited to:
* Monitors vitals, needle pressures, temperature of the machine, conductivity, transmembrane pressure of the dialyzer, ultrafiltration rate, and amount.
* Administers blood and blood products and all dialysis medications.
* Verifies patient's allergies and medications.
* Performs and documents assessments pre, during and post dialysis.
When acting as charge:
* Acts as a resource to other staff, assessing patients, problem solving and patient placement.
* Facilitates the assignment and delivery of nursing care.
* Assures adequate staffing for the upcoming shift.
* Assures that all staff are managing time wisely.
