Calculates fluid removal or replacement to be achieved during the dialysis procedure
Uses proper techniques to access the dialysis site and correctly connects patient to dialysis machine
Begins procedure and monitors the dialysis site during the treatment
Accurately collects, documents, and reports all patient data (i.e. vital signs, weights)
Observes and monitors patient(s) during the procedure and reports any changes or adverse reactions in patient's condition to the Charges RegisteredNurse on duty
Provides skilled intervention to patients as applicable for any signs and symptoms of adverse reaction and/or change in patient's condition
Documents all patient care procedures performed during the dialysis treatment
Correctly follows all policies and procedures in testing the machine pre-treatment
Correctly follows all policies and procedures to discontinue treatment and disconnect the patient from the dialysis machine
Responsible for cleaning and quality control of the dialysis equipment
Reports any machine problems or malfunctions to the facility or charge registerednurse, as required by policy
May participate in the development of patient care plans; depending upon the facility or work assignment.
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts in an acute care setting requiring at least 2 years of experience and comfort with titrating drips.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Med/Surg and IMCU units of an acute care hospital
Patient population includes ortho, post-surgical, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, HTN, DM Type 2, and some pediatrics
18 beds on the 3rd floor, 8 beds on the 2nd floor
Nurse-to-patient ratios: Med/Surg 1:5, IMCU 1:3
Common titrated drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin
Monitor techs (Mindray) are present, and ability to read and interpret tele strips is required
Works with CPAP, BiPAP, vents, Vapotherm, and high flow equipment
EMR used is EPIC
Night shifts are 12 hours (7:00 pm - 7:30 am), with block scheduling and every other weekend required
No routine floating, but assistance may be requested in ED or ICU in a support role if needed
Initial unit-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
Charge nurse oversees all units on the floor and typically does not take an assignment
Small community hospital setting (40 beds, trauma level 4) requiring flexibility and teamwork
Every other weekend and holiday rotation coverage may be required
Any color professional scrubs are permitted; no visible face tattoos and natural hair colors required
First-time travelers will be considered for this position
Requirements
Active OR RN license required
Minimum 2 years of relevant Med/Surg experience
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred
Must be comfortable titrating Cardizem and Amiodarone drips
Experience with telemetry and ability to interpret tele strips required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
Uses clinical judgment to manage delivery of patient care safely and effectively
Triages effectively according to the severity and critical nature of patients' condition
Comprehensively assesses a patient's needs, obtaining their medical history and personal information, and seeking a doctor's evaluation immediately for life-threatening issues
Communicates with other medical professionals involved in the patient's care in a timely manner
Identifies and recognizes abnormal symptoms and changes in patient condition, established priorities, and takes appropriate action
Carries out providers orders accurately and timely
Performs, delegates, and supervises patient care activities within the scope of practice to meet the age-appropriate patient care needs
Performs and/or assists in emergency treatment as required in accordance with RN scope of practice
Follows emergency policies, procedures and protocols in an effective manner
Assesses the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, social, and educational needs
Develops, implements and updates patient's plan of care, including the education and discharge plan based on evidence-based practice standards and patient/family needs in collaboration with multi-disciplinary healthcare team
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Current RegisteredNurse License within the state of practice
Minimum of one year emergency room experience preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
