ROLE:
The PICC Line Nurse will assess and perform an overall evaluation of the patient. Responsible for placement of the line and ensure the line placement is correctly inserted.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to work independently.
Communicates effectively and appropriately to patient, family and other health care providers.
Completes required paperwork.
Provides patient education about the PICC (or midline) insertion and the care and maintenance issues post insertion
Participates in performance improvement activities by providing information about each PICC (or midline) insertion to the facility staff as requested
Demonstrates ability to assess patient past and current medical history including laboratory values, venous and muscle skeletal status that is pertinent in qualifying a patient as a candidate for PICC placement.
Assures physicians order on chart for PICC placement.
Assures Informed Consent has been obtained.
Performs time out; correct patient identifier prior to initiating PICC procedure.
Demonstrates ability to perform PICC placement maintaining aseptic technique utilizing measures that prevent patient discomfort and trauma related to procedure.
Demonstrates high level skills in critical thinking and assessment related to vascular access devices.
Maintains clinical competency by inserting a minimum of six PICCs/year and by performing one observed successful PICC insertion
Documents insertion of PICC (or midline), confirmation of placement by radiologist for PICC, and medication administration, in accordance with company policy
Provides facility nurses/staff instructions about the patient's PICC (or midline) care and maintenance
Assist Territory Managers in meetings for clinical support as needed
Assist Director of Vascular Access in facility rounds to meet with and support Directors of Nursing, Administration and Nursing staff
Is responsible for the fiscal viability of the PICC program by entering the charges for the insertion, proper usage of equipment, and productive use of time
Maintains patient confidentiality.
SKILLS|EXPERIENCE:

• Must have good knowledge base for caring for central venous catheters.

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and flexible MedSurg/Tele Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment at a healthcare facility in Columbus, OH. The RN will be responsible for caring for mixed-acuity patients, including PCU and MedSurg patients, with a focus on oncology and neuro-oncology. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, with a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including experience with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and tracheostomy care. Oncology experience is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive care to MedSurg and Telemetry patients, including those with oncology and neuro-oncology conditions.
Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and provide tracheostomy care including suctioning, changing inner cannulas, and general trach care.
Administer chemotherapy and other critical treatments as directed.
Monitor and manage telemetry patients and work with the medical team to develop patient care plans.
Float to other MedSurg/Oncology units based on staffing needs (equivalent or lower acuity levels).
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory Therapy, Social Services, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and more.
Assist with infection prevention, patient safety protocols, and fall prevention efforts.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in the Epic system.
Participate in unit-wide initiatives to improve patient outcomes and care standards.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a MedSurg/Telemetry setting.
Oncology experience preferred, but not required.
Epic experience required.
Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required; OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred.
Skills: IV starts, Telemetry monitoring, Tracheostomy care, Chemotherapy administration, Dysrhythmia management.
Must be flexible with scheduling-there is no set schedule or weekend schedule. The facility determines the complete schedule, which may involve weekend shifts.

When in the field, staff will provide excellent clinical care to all Ohio's Hospice patients that meet the needs of our patients/families, Ohio's Hospice standards, Medicare Conditions of Participation and achieve the desired outcome of comfortable and peaceful death for our patients.
Qualifications:
RN Nurse License in the State of Ohio without any board actions Bachelor Degree preferred
Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (CHPN) preferred and will be made available to Ohio's Hospice employees who wish to obtain certification.
CPR Certified
Computer Skills sufficient to properly document services and care
Pain and Symptom Management Skills
Assessment Skills
Valid Driver's license in the state of Ohio
State minimum auto insurance
Safe driving record
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must be able to pass a 10 panel drug screen

What you will be doing as a Registered Nurse, RN
* Provide hands on advanced care in accordance with medical orders: tilt-table, advanced bowel programs, wound care, medication set ups, colostomy/catheter care, trachea care, feeding tubes, training and supervision of aides, etc.
* Work facility staffing shifts with our contracted facility partners
Some of our requirements:
* Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) through the state of Michigan
* 6 months recent, relevant experience is preferred (in Facility Staffing, or Home Care)
* Valid Driver's License, and Auto Insurance (if applicable)
* Updated TB Test, agree to Covid-19 testing as required.
* Must be able to pass a background check
