Job Summary: The Registered Nurse in the Centralized Monitoring Unit (CMU) plays a key role in supporting the safe and efficient monitoring of nearly 300 patients' cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic status. This is a non-direct care position, ideal for a clinically skilled RN with experience in telemetry who enjoys working in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment. The RN in this role provides clinical support to a team of Central Monitor Technicians (CMTs), promotes adherence to protocols, and facilitates clear communication with inpatient care teams. This position contributes to the overall quality of care by helping ensure accurate cardiac monitoring, appropriate escalations, and consistent workflow. Job Responsibilities: · Support and coordinate the daily activities of Central Monitor Technicians to ensure timely and accurate telemetry monitoring. · Serve as a clinical resource for rhythm interpretation, protocol adherence, and telemetry best practices. · Collaborate with the CMU Nurse Educator to help provide training and reinforce department policies and procedures. · Support smooth transitions between shifts to maintain continuity of patient monitoring. · Participate in daily team huddles and contribute to unit-based initiatives. · Act as a communication link between the CMU and inpatient clinical staff, promoting timely updates and coordination. · Assist in reviewing staffing assignments and making adjustments as needed. · Contribute to quality improvement efforts related to telemetry and monitoring workflows. · Assist with coaching and guiding staff in real-time situations, promoting best practices and a supportive team environment. · Demonstrate commitment to Hartford HealthCare's mission and values in daily practice. Qualifications BSN required; MSN preferred. One degree must be in Nursing. · Candidates actively pursuing a BSN or MSN may be considered, with continued progress toward degree completion expected within five years. · Minimum one year of nursing experience, including telemetry experience. · Current CT RN license required. · Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) or equivalent preferred. · Strong communication and clinical problem-solving skills. · Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. · Comfort with using clinical systems, telemetry technology, and escalation protocols. The Clinical Nurse Leader directs the work to ensure the overall movement of patients through the unit is managed in a safe and efficient manner. You will appropriately assign the workload and collaborate with manager to monitor and maintain staff performance. This leader will review the assignment of patient care activities assuring that staff is qualified to care for assigned patients. The Clinical Nurse Leader will support team members and ensure quality and service excellence to patients. They will also facilitate solutions for challenging patient care situations. Ensures and demonstrates the cost-effective utilization of resources for self, others, and unit as a whole. Candidate must be comfortable working in a fast paced, complex academic medical environment where the Clinical Nurse Leader is a key member of the multidisciplinary team. Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to work independently. Must have excellent assessment, communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage and follow through on multiple priorities. Must be able to communicate effectively, and work closely with all physicians and staff. Excellent critical thinking, analysis and assessment skills for successful process improvement planning. BLS certification by the American Heart Association prior to date of hire. ACLS certification by the American Heart Association prior to date of hire for external candidates and within 90 days for internal candidates. 1 year of recent medical surgical nursing experience.
