The professional registered nurse Inpatient RN CAP 2 may be an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) for new employees who meet the RN CAP 2 criteria or attained through advancement from CAP 1. This position is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. This may include delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the kidney disease health care team, this position participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and program operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, applicable contractual service agreements, state and federal regulations.
Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with the guidance from the Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with another Registered Nurse.

Administers medications as prescribed and documents medical justification and effectiveness.

Serves as a resource, leader, coach, mentor and role model for new and incumbent employees by setting examples of appropriate behavior, work habits and attitudes towards patients, co-workers, Supervisors and the company at the facility and area level.
May be asked to provide specialized nursing care instructions to hospital/facility staff as stipulated contractually.
May be assigned to assist in an Outpatient facility on an as needed basis.
May serve as a Preceptor to new employees.

Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
First-time travelers accepted with requisite skills and experience
Technical skills include:
Trach care and management
Chest tube management
PIV starts
Glucometer use
Management of common drips: Insulin, Heparin, and titratable medication drips (to HR)
Support Within the Department:
CNA: Assists with vital signs, blood glucose checks, baths, bed changes, feeding, patient safety, walking, and turning patients
Unit Secretary: Present on unit from 7 AM to 11 PM, with house-wide call responsibilities overnight
Charge Nurse: Yes
Phlebotomy: Performed by RN from CVLs; most patients have lab drawn by phlebotomy staff
PICC Team & RT: PICC team available; RT services 24/7
Hospitalists & Intensivists: Available 24/7 for patient management
Resource Nurses: Discharge and float nurses available across units-providing valuable support and coverage
Technology & Equipment:
Electronic Medical Records: EPIC
IV Pumps: Alaris
Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
Monitoring Equipment: Phillips monitors and VS3 vital sign monitors
Additional Equipment: Nova Glucose Strips, specialized unit-specific tools
Floating Expectations:
Travelers will serve in a float pool capacity, covering all Med/Surg and Telemetry units across the hospital as needed.
Orientation:
1 day of general hospital orientation plus
2 days focused on departmental protocols and procedures

Flexibility to float across multiple units and adapt to a busy, team-focused environment

Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN or BSN)
Prior experience in a Level 1 trauma, teaching hospital setting
Certification in Med Surg nursing is advantageous

Program Overview:
The Crisis Service and Diagnostic Center provides individualized, short-term (up to 90 days) stabilization supports a maximum of sixteen (16) adults aged 18 and above who have intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) and/or co-occurring behavioral health (BH) diagnoses adults with. These individuals may be experiencing psychiatric crises or significant emotional/behavioral challenges that threaten their ability to remain in their current home environment.
Position Overview:
The Nurse Manager will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, staff management, regulatory compliance, and budget oversight. This role requires strong psychiatric knowledge, proven leadership abilities, and the capacity to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
Location/Schedule:
750 Hazel Street, Macon, GA - Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring effective resource management and smooth functioning of the crisis service facility.
Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff during crisis situations, ensuring proper delegation and coordinated care.
Manage staffing levels, develop schedules, and ensure adequate coverage to meet program needs.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care; implement quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Ensure all staff are properly trained and competent in required clinical skills.
Participate in crisis interventions, assess patient needs, and provide clinical guidance to staff to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
Develop and implement training programs focused on crisis management, de-escalation strategies, and specialized interventions, including healthcare plans.
Qualifications
Active Georgia RN license required
Minimum of 5 years of RN experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), or a related field
Strong computer skills
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Preferred: Experience working with individuals with IDD
