JOB SUMMARY
The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care to cardiac patients and communicate with the physician continuously to ensure patient safety during procedures. Working with the Cardiology Service Leaders and Providers, the Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, plans, implements, and collaborates with other departments to ensure excellence in patient and family care, reflective of CCH mission, vision, and values. The Registered Nurse (RN) will integrate departmental goals for improvement across the care continuum. This position coordinates and delegates unit and patient care activities, as appropriate, to other health care providers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides intensive, direct patient care to Cardiac Catheterization lab patient populations in the roles of moderate sedation, circulating, and monitoring.
Performs patient assessment and documents in patient record.
Develops an age-appropriate plan of care, which addresses physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately and ensures documentation of interventions.
Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes, revises plan of care and intervenes as necessary.
Educates patient and families regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
Provides service excellence to all customers.
Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing and continuing education.
Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
Actively participates in hospital committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.
Maintains a clean and safe environment.
May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients.
Adequately assesses and reassesses pain and responds quickly to changes in patient status.
Communicates openly and efficiently with physician, patient, and other Cardiac Cath lab staff in regards to patient condition (i.e. hemodynamics, cardiovascular, and neurological status).
Maintains cardiac cath lab supplies and inventory.
Assists in the recording, storing, retrieval and analyzing data obtained during cardiovascular procedures.
Will monitor, scrub and/or circulate on Cath lab procedures.
Functions independently in respective home department.
Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
Licensure
Wyoming RN license
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in Cath lab/ICU/PACU nursing preferred.
Certifications required
See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and maintain all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR). The RN practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and American Nurses Association professional standards.
Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline.
Must be able to assess a patient's condition, formulate a plan of care, select appropriate interventions, and evaluate patient response to care/treatment and to explain/teach patients about their condition/recovery.
Ability to handle emergency high-stress situations during high-risk procedures.

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:
Completes nursing assessment of patient and documents appropriately into patient chart.
Develops and reviews and revises a plan of care, including a discharge plan, based upon the assessment of patient's needs.
Implements medical and nursing orders per plan of care and documents appropriately.
Evaluates patient's response to care and engages in patient and family teaching as appropriate.
Oversees staff (LPN, CNA, and PSA) assigned for providing patient care.
Participates in Bedside Shift Report.
Collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Manager to assure the integration of the ANA's Scope & Standards of Practice, assuring that these standards are identified as the measurement criteria for nursing practice on the unit.
Coordinates patient care in collaboration with providers and ancillary departments to achieve quality outcomes.
Completes Unit specific orientation and ongoing training and competencies as assigned based on department role, scope of services, and organizational standards.

Triages patients to determine if medical exams are needed after a forensic exam.
Coordinates a team-based care strategy incorporating all agencies involved in assisting the victim and coordinate referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up as needed for each patient.
Performs a complete physical and forensic evidence collection examination including Head-to-Toe assessment for trauma, detailed genital examination, forensic specimen collection and documentation, including photography, and assess for mandatory reporting status, reporting when appropriate.
Performs and documents sexual assault and forensic interview accurately and in accordance with the Forensic Nursing Program requirements.
Supports and participates in legal proceedings as needed.
