The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) on the PMR works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team throughout the continuum of care. The complexity of the physical medicine and rehab population requires an in depth knowledge of the multiple aspects of rehabilitation (and its subspecialties) and the ability to develop a thorough health care plan for the patients seen in this space. On occasion the APP who functions primarily in the inpatient areas may perform some coordination of outpatient follow-up after discharge. The APP may be involved in procedures as appropriate. The APP has a strong foundation in evidenced-based practice and education and has a responsibility for ensuring an environment of safe quality care. The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.

Select Physical Therapy is seeking a PRN Rehabilitation Aide at our Santee Clinic!

Compensation starting at $15 an hour.

Work Schedule: M-F, PRN

Responsibilities

* Carries out activities delegated by supervisor as allowed under State Practice Acts following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines
* Possesses training and/or experience which allows him/her to aide therapists in carrying out rehabilitation procedures, organize/schedule and keep records of ancillary services (i.e. FCE's, CYBEX, POETS, etc.) and support other center specific functions.
* Observes and reports any abnormal patient conditions, reactions and responses to treatment in an effective, professional manner
* Plays a significant role in specific area of center operations (may be scheduling ancillary services and following up, overseeing a specific program, serving as OSHA coordinator, etc.)
* Cleans, sterilizes and prepares equipment in accordance with company policy and
* guidelines.

Responsibilities

The MSAC Program Rehab Aide is responsible for assisting in the programming of the Marilyn Hilton MS Achievement Center staff. In this role, you will support instruction in the following areas: yoga, fitness, cognitive stimulation, art therapy and recreation therapy under the direction of the Center staff, including the Executive Director, Recreation Therapist and Fitness Specialist Instructor. You will work with the Clinical Fitness Specialist, Recreation Therapist and the Executive Director to carry out fitness programs, recreational plans and assist the wellness program in other duties under the direction of other staff members. You will also work in close collaboration with the Center's Executive Director, Recreational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Yoga instructors, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Southern California Chapter's staff and NMSS staff.Qualifications

Required:

*Ability to safely perform repetitive bending, stooping, squatting, standing and sitting during full workday using proper body mechanics. Normal duties involve frequent lifting (up to 35 pounds), transferring members, and pushing an occupied wheelchair (up to 500 feet).

*Sufficient dexterity and strength to perform standard duties including member care, documentation

and equipment use.

*Ability to work as a member of the interdisciplinary team, including sharing knowledge, giving and receiving feedback, taking initiative to assist others, problem solving and providing an atmosphere conducive to learning.

*Demonstrates knowledge of etiology, course, prognosis and manifestations of MS and other common disease processes.

*Basic knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy, specific to MS.

*Ability to appropriately perform, observe or assist in a wide variety of adaptive exercise activities and recreational activities, consistently, safely and accurately.

*Ability to motivate and encourage members to follow their personal adaptive exercise plan in a positive and empowering manner.

*Ability to identify the need for and utilize appropriate safety and/or emergency techniques, CPR and infection control.

*Ability to provide an environment conducive to safe, quality care by using proper body mechanics, providing timely communication, removal of defective equipment, and suitable response to emergency situations and/or identification of potential problem situations.

*Working knowledge of PT, OT, ST and TR terminology and interventions.

*Ability to monitor heart rate and blood pressure.

*Knowledge of the impact of MS on an individual's physical and emotional well-being, as well as knowledge of resources available to assist with education and health promotion.

Strongly Preferred:

*Current BCLS certification.

*Graduation from an accredited college or university with associates or bachelor's in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or related allied health field.
