Rehab Hospital of IN company history timeline

1992

Having always recognized the importance of outpatient rehabilitation, the hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 12, 1992 for its East Campus at One Layfair Drive.

As demand increased, VHP grew, adding nurses and therapists and expanding its headquarters, until in 1992 when it moved to what is now Greenlife Grocery on Merrimon Avenue, and opened satellite offices in Henderson and Haywood counties.

Continental and HealthSouth nearly merged in 1992.

1993

Chief among its acquisitions was the purchase of National Medical Enterprises Inc. in December 1993.

In 1993, Mark A. Adams was named president and chief executive officer of the Center. “Mr.

HealthSouth's revenues for 1993 surged impressively to $575 million and the company assumed the industry lead.

1994

That and other acquisitions helped to push HealthSouth's sales past the $1 billion mark to $1.13 billion in 1994.

1995

Significantly, in October 1995 HealthSouth announced that it had agreed to purchase the rehabilitation services operations of Caremark International for $127 million in cash.

Methodist Rehab opened its second-floor Atrium Mall in 1995.

1996

In 1996, Mountain Area Hospice moved to a larger facility in the Montford neighborhood, and became a founding member of CarePartners Health Services.

1998

In 1998 HealthSouth made two major acquisitions.

1999

The company acquired American Rehability Services, which operated outpatient rehabilitation centers in 18 states, from Mariner Post-Acute Network, Inc., in July 1999.

HealthSouth continued to face difficulties in 1999.

2000

In 2000, Methodist Rehab became the first hospital in Mississippi to be named one of America’s Best Hospitals by United States News and World Report.

The channel, which was launched in early 2000, offered sports medicine information, links to HealthSouth centers, online chat events with physicians and celebrity athletes, and online communities.

2004

In 2004, the hospital opened Methodist Specialty Care Center—a 60-bed residential facility for the severely disabled—on the East Campus.

2005

Solace Center opened in 2005 with 27 beds in private rooms, a chapel, a great room and family dining area, and gardens that can be viewed from every room.

2009

In 2009, a major renovation and expansion was completed.
