Sumer S. Johal
Agralogics

An expert in growing disruptive technology companies, Sumer Johal is the Chief Executive Officer of Agni Energy.Mr. Johal founded Agni with the intention of making an impact on the global, unsustainable trajectory of energy consumption, particularly in rural populations in emerging economies of the world. Since founding the company in 2006, Mr. Johal has helped the company to attract top-tier venture funding and expand its operations in India and North America. Agni Energy creates replacements for fossil fuels by utilizing preexisting waste streams, and is working on building a rural renewable energy infrastructure wherever energy demand is growing fastest. With its initial focus in India. Agni is still in the development stage, and Sumer Johal and his team plan to begin releasing products and services in the very near future. Before coming to Agni, Sumer Johal was the Chief Technology Officer at Pivotal Systems Corporation, a computer software company he cofounded in 2003. In that role, he was responsible for organizing the management division as well as overseeing field operations and research and development. Mr.Johal successfully procured two rounds of funding from top-tier venture capitalists. An alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sumer Johal holds both a Bachelor and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. While completing his graduate studies, he belonged to the Zeta Psi Fraternity of North America. To stay current with developments in the industry, Mr. Johal maintains membership with several professional organizations, including Bay Area Indian Entrepreneurs. In his free time, Johal stays active through Tae Kwon Do and by practicing Bhangra, a traditional Punjabi style of music and dance.
