In this role, you'll develop, refine, and scale test processes for the electrical and firmware systems of the company's primary drive module subassembly, which is ultimately assembled onto the vehicle. The ideal candidate has strong debugging and diagnostic skills, hands-on experience with automotive networking and firmware testing, and enjoys working cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. As a Manufacturing Diagnostics Engineer, you will: Serve as the first line of defense for electrical, firmware, and functional issues on the drive module manufacturing assembly, including software, firmware, harnessing, networking (CAN, LIN, Automotive & Standard Ethernet, GMSL), hardware, and infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and firmware issues at the manufacturing supplier (e.g., flashing firmware, updating test sequences, repairing harness connectors, terminals, and wires). Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to interpret component- and vehicle-level requirements and translate them into scalable, system-level validation test scripts and cases.7 Develop work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and workaround documentation for operators on the manufacturing line. Design and implement next-generation diagnostic architectures to support higher-volume production in future manufacturing lines.     Summary/Objective As part of the Manufacturing Engineering team, design and develop the 3-D CAD models and supporting documentation to fully define the manufacturing and process steps required to manufacture tight tolerance, mechanical components and assemblies in a robust, repeatable, and reliable manner. This includes the design and development of fixtures, tooling, gages, and test equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Define the process operations, and correct sequencing of these operations, to support the manufacture of quality mechanical components and assemblies. Design and develop fixtures, tooling, and gages using Solidworks as the primary CAD system, using best practices including DFM, DFA, DTC and stack analysis. May include the design and development of engineering and production test fixtures. A portion of this effort will require a working knowledge of AutoCad. Define the product configuration and part geometry in fully dimensioned 2-D drawings directly linked to 3-D files for each manufacturing operation. A solid understanding of GD&T is a must. Manage Bill of Materials, including a full definition of material selection and raw material configuration. Ensure proper documentation of design revisions for the full Technical Data Package including CAD, BOM, engineering masters, routings, etc. Initiate and participate in cross-functional design reviews to ensure new designs are optimized for manufacturability. Support the development and execution of project timelines. Provide technical input to Applications Engineering in support of process improvements to streamline the process from Design to finish product. Provide manufacturing floor support processing issues and promote continuous improvement initiatives. Work within a team that specifies, evaluates, justifies, and implements capital equipment projects throughout the plants and to continuously strive to evaluate technology as to its application at providing the most efficient process. About the Role: U.S. Pipe is seeking an Electrical Reliability Technician. This position will provide electrical support to the maintenance department by training and mentoring hourly craft personnel, completing, and programing PLC and assist with the configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of the plant electronic and electrical components, electrical distribution and computer systems driving the electrical and mechanical portion of the operation. Specific Responsibilities: Provides electrical support to the maintenance department by training and mentoring hourly craft personnel, completing, and programing PLC and assist with the configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of the plant electronic and electrical components, electrical distribution and computer systems driving the electrical and mechanical portion of the operation. Develop system specific training materials and use those materials to conduct formalized training and experiential learning in the field. Manage electrical work orders, electrical maintenance job and contractors. Installs and configures electronic, electrical distribution and computer systems. implements the maintenance strategic plan to ensure cost effective asset management, long term equipment viability, and ongoing improvement of the maintenance systems and organization. Provide highly developed, technical assistance to craftspeople and engineers during both planned and unplanned equipment service interruptions. Maintains, supports, and documents computer and network hardware and software applications and operating systems. Troubleshoots electronics, electronic equipment controls, electrical distribution systems and computer hardware and software. Repairs/replaces defective computer components and network devices as needed. Apply root cause problem solving techniques to find and eliminate sources of recurring equipment failures. Maintain a working understanding of current technologies that have potential to improve the equipment or areas supported and provide input to capital project planning targeted at equipment improvement. Review the preventative and predictive maintenance systems to ensure that the defined activities are sufficient to identify potential sources of failure before failures occur. Develop technical documentation for processes and procedures in the area. (Work Instructions (WIP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Energy Isolation Checklists (EIC). Assist the IT Plant System Specialist with the installation, upgrading and general maintenance of production systems hardware and software work on major repair jobs, new installation jobs and modifications to plant machinery and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills and Other Qualifications: Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience in the field is desired. Must have at least 3 - 5 years of industrial electrical experience. The ability and willingness to work on any shift, and be on call, overtime, and weekends. Must have strong PLC, software and electrical and electronic control systems programming and installation experience. Minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the foundry or related industry. Minimum of three (3) years of project or plant engineering experience, preferably in the foundry or heavy metals industry. Computer proficient with the ability to utilize common software programs. Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment with proven ability to diagnose and trouble shoot hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems including PLC controls. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interpret and present technical data. Ability to work across departmental lines and perform effectively in a cross-functional team culture. Capable of working in a diverse workforce in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Previous SAP knowledge is a plus.
