Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Supplier Quality Lead is responsible for supplier quality oversight of the Bloomington, MN facility and the Inspection Business Unit. The Bloomington facility develops and manufactures advanced precision inspection and metrology equipment for the semiconductor industry.
This position requires hands-on engagement in all aspects of supplier quality, product quality, and customer support. As a lead, you will be expected to drive effective problem-solving, continuous improvement strategies and proactive solutions to assure best-in-class supplier quality performance.
Own all aspects of supplier quality for assigned component, assembly and contract manufacturing suppliers, globally.
Establish cross-functional working relationships and collaboration across the ONTO organization (manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, service) to gather, organize and execute solutions for ONTO's production line and customers.
Engage throughout the product lifecycle internally, and with suppliers to assure supplier quality outcomes meet requirements.
Develop and deploy supplier and contract manufacturer quality management strategies with commodity business management and supplier development engineering.
Demonstrate expertise, train staff and advise real-time problem-solving.
Investigate supplier quality issues to determine containment, root cause and identify/implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
Issue SCARs, ensuring timely supplier engagement and responsiveness.
Participate in defining and managing risk mitigation strategies and plans to reduce parts DOA events at manufacturing and customer sites.
Address and prevent supplier quality escapes, ensuring prompt and effective issue resolution.
Manage process and product change notifications (PCNs) from suppliers, in order to meet requirements.
Facilitate First Article Inspection Plans to qualify procured material.
Develop, lead and execute audit, process and site inspection plans for suppliers and contract manufacturers' process controls and QMS adherence, assuring effective closure of audit non-conformances.
Report, monitor and action supplier quality KPIs. Partner with commodity business management on supplier scorecards, QBRs, for improving supplier quality performance.
Assure complete and thorough process and records documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline. Master's degree is preferred.
10 years of experience in the semiconductor equipment industry.
7 years of experience in a quality role.
1-2 years in a management role (desired but, not required).
Proven leadership skills and ability to influence individuals at all levels.
Demonstrated technical and analytical skills: spreadsheet (statistical analysis a plus)
Strong communication skills: written, verbal and presentation.
Strong project management skills: creation/chartering, monitoring, milestone execution and closure.
Adaptability and ability to operate in fast-paced and high-complexity environments.
Exposure to industry best practices: workmanship and commodity quality standards.
Lean and Six Sigma experience, including working knowledge of FMEA, 8D, and Kaizen.
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus.

About the Position
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for CI Programs across all facilities, implementing a Lean culture with emphasis for basic Lean principles and tools and develop a culture of Continuous improvement within the organization. ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Manufacturing Engineer will support end products built by multiple contract manufacturing facilities. This role will focus on resolving manufacturing issues and improving throughput and yields to maintain product supply to meet demand. Support the transfer of new products and processes from process development to operations. Serve as the technical manufacturing expert to provide feedback during the development cycle and represent operations with the introduction into manufacturing, initial ramp, and stabilization of processes.
Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for leading the development, optimization, and scale-up of manufacturing processes for personal care and Over-the-Counter (OTC) products, with a focus on sunscreens and skincare formulations. The role requires a strong technical background in chemical engineering, process design, and continuous improvement to ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of a diverse range of products. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to support new product introductions, resolve process challenges, and drive process innovation.
Responsibilities:
Process Development & Optimization:
Design, develop, and optimize scalable manufacturing processes for personal care and OTC products, ensuring compliance with cGMP and FDA regulations.
Develop robust process documentation including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions.
Evaluate and optimize mixing, blending, emulsification, and filling processes for a variety of skincare and sunscreen formulations.
New Product Introduction (NPI):
Collaborate closely with R&D teams to ensure seamless scale-up from bench-scale to full-scale production.
Conduct process trials, validation runs, and pilot batches to establish reliable manufacturing processes for new formulations.
Lead the technical transfer of new products to production and provide technical support for troubleshooting.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality while reducing costs.
Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Implement automation and control strategies to enhance process capability and reduce variability.
Project Management:
Lead and manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and within-budget completion.
Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and process performance metrics to senior management.
Compliance & Quality:
Ensure processes comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, OTC monographs) and internal quality standards.
Support quality assurance initiatives by conducting risk assessments, participating in audits, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Equipment & Facility Support:
Provide engineering support for the selection, installation, and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
Oversee the development and maintenance of process control systems and work with the maintenance team to ensure optimal equipment performance.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in process engineering, with at least 3 years in personal care, skincare, or OTC manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of cGMP, FDA regulations, and OTC compliance standards.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree preferred.
Expertise in formulation and manufacturing of sunscreens and skincare products is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience in process scale-up, equipment selection, and process troubleshooting.
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is a plus.
Fluent in Spanish is a plus.

Typical Duties of a Manufacturing Engineer
Create, evaluate, implement and monitor manufacturing plans/processes and operating systems for the machining of DSTI's products with a primary goal to support the machining department.
Create tooling list, set-up sheets, FAI sheets, processing guidelines, and jig or fixture drawings or details. Ensure that the instructions are simple to understand and consistent with best practices.
Minimize the need for machinists to manually program at machine centers by providing support through GibbsCAM or other offline programming methods.
Improve capabilities around CNC machining software and applications.
Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products and/or reduce costs using knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling and production equipment.
Perform ongoing process monitoring to ensure comprehensive root cause analysis is conducted and that all goals and objectives are achieved consistently.
Monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical operating personnel.
Be fully aware of the latest technological advances in machining, machine tools and programming software.

Intermediate skills in MS Office Products including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
