It currently operates with over 300 mill employees, 150 contract maintenance employees, and 150 other contractors in a results oriented environment This position reports to the Electrical Reliability Engineering Manager, Valliant Mill. This person will be responsible for most Electrical and Instrumentation aspects within the assigned department. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and supports mill manufacturing. The Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all furnace-based thermal processes across the plant. This includes managing hydrogen decrepition (HD), vacuum sintering, post-sintering heat treatment, and GBD furnaces. The role involves designing processes, ensuring their safe operation, and optimizing temperature control, atmosphere management, and cooling systems. Responsibilities + Develop, maintain, and optimize process parameters for all furnace types to ensure consistent part density, magnetic properties, and yield. + Oversee installation, startup, and qualification of furnace systems, including vacuum systems, gas delivery, water cooling, and safety interlocks. + Author and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and control plans for each furnace type. + Monitor process data such as temperature curves, vacuum levels, and gas flow for trends and deviations; implement corrective actions. + Collaborate with Facilities and EHS teams on safety systems, including hydrogen management, venting, alarms, and emergency protocols. + Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for nonconforming material or equipment issues. + Interface with vendors for design reviews, FAT/SAT, maintenance planning, and spare parts procurement. + Work closely with other Process Engineers on material transitions and furnace recipes specific to processes that involve the use of furnaces. + Support quality and R&D teams in furnace trials, new material qualifications, and metallurgical evaluations. + Develop process capability metrics and support automation/instrumentation improvements for repeatability. Primary Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement advanced radar signal processing algorithms for next-generation radar systems Conduct research and development of novel signal processing techniques to enhance radar performance and capabilities Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RF engineers, software developers, systems engineers, and program managers Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis of radar systems and signal processing architecture Prototype and test radar signal processing solutions in laboratory and field environments Support proposal development and customer technical discussions for R&D programs Document research findings and present results to technical and non-technical stakeholders Stay current with emerging technologies and research trends in radar signal processing Required Qualifications Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field Strong background in radar principles, signal processing theory, and algorithm development Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar technical computing environments Experience with research and development methodologies and practices Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary team environments Desired Qualifications Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field Experience with advanced radar signal processing techniques (synthetic aperture radar, adaptive processing, STAP, machine learning applications) Knowledge of RF system design and electromagnetic modeling tools (HFSS, Feko, CST) Experience with real-time signal processing and FPGA development Familiarity with AI/ML applications in radar and signal processing Experience with radar system testing and measurement Knowledge of defense acquisition processes and R&D program execution Active security clearance preferred Experience with technical publication and patent development Work Environment This position involves working in a fast-paced R&D environment with opportunities for both independent research and collaborative team projects. The role may require occasional travel for customer meetings, conferences, and field testing activities.
