Champion Lean culture within the organization by training, mentoring, and engaging team members at all levels.
Evaluate new equipment and technologies; develop business cases and support capital projects from concept through implementation.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards in all process engineering activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
2+ years of experience in process or manufacturing engineering, preferably in a high-volume assembly environment.
Knowledge of assembly tooling, fixtures, and workstations.
Proficiency in using engineering tools such as AutoCAD/SolidWorks, Excel (advanced), and statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).

What you'll do…

Dennis Group's Process Engineers are key in our projects of designing and building food and beverage processing facilities. Process Engineers work in every aspect of a project - controls, packaging, mechanical, electrical, building system, architecture, etc., from the conceptual stages to design completion, and throughout construction. They provide expertise in flow diagrams, alterations, constraints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), layout, install, and commissioning and start-up. Process engineers enable operational efficiencies for the food and beverage process plants of our clients. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Responsibilities
Developing process design basis and select unit operations
Develop operation specifications
Coordinate with other project disciplines (engineers, designers, architects, etc.)
Preparing process flow and piping and instrumentation diagrams
Create process flow diagrams
Preparing mass and energy balances
Sizing and specification of process and process utility equipment
Equipment procurement and bid evaluation
Assisting project management with the development of project scope, budget and schedule for all process related work
Helping to coordinate the schedules and work of contractors for process equipment installation

Develop process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs) and create review of layout drawings
Overseeing process and utility equipment installations
Provide onsite construction start-up and commissioning support
Perform onsite audits and surveys of the facilities and equipment
Researching processing engineering best practices
Supporting talent growth within our organization
Provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.
Required Education Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in chemical or process engineering.
4-7 years of work experience developing process designs for food and beverage processing facilities
4-7 years of work experience preparing process flow diagrams and P&IDs
4-7 years of work experience sizing and specification of process and process utility equipment.
4-7 years of work experience developing project scope, budget and process related work schedules
Work experience with professional services, process engineering, and food and beverage firms is a plus
Interest in food safety and sanitary design principles and a desire learn about various food and beverage industry standards, practices, and regulations
Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD
Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven client interaction and experience
Must meet Travel Requirement - On-site construction project coordination and management with travel requirements between 30-50% of the year

Design, develop, test, implement and validate processes for new programs within budget and within program timing.
Work with Program Managers to ensure fixtures, tooling, molded parts, purchased parts, prints, process flow, PFMEA, control plan, work instructions, inspection checklists, training, time studies, production rates, production sheet and other requirements are created and coordinated to hit prototype and production launch dates.
Design lean cells with 1 piece flow, balanced labor and standard work package; cost justify capital expenditures and write specification for major customer purchases.
Complete accurate cost estimates for equipment, fixtures, tooling, gauging and operator work content to support quotations for new business.
Continuously improve processes to improve productivity, increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Be involved in kaizen events, working with the team to help complete preparation work, using value stream mapping and other lean tools.
Work with the Kaizen team to implement changes, and manage open issues through closure.
Improve quality pro activity by ensuring quality controls (PFMEA, control plan, work instructions) are robust enough to detect defects and minimize internal failure. Close corrective actions and RGAs on time, react to high scrap occurrences with structured problem solving
Support OTD by troubleshooting production problems, equipment, fixtures and processes. Improve processes where available with scientific molding techniques and through use of preventative maintenance.
