Summary: The Material Handler - Shipping picks and processes customer orders and distribution centers accurately and on time. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for processing customer orders and filling distribution centers Compiles, organizes, and prepares all orders as directed from the Shipping Supervisor Operates a handheld scanner to scan barcodes and delivers materials to their target location Operates forklift, lift truck, side loaders, pallet trucks, picker and other loading/stacking equipment Responsible daily inspection of forklifts Performs on-spot checking Maintains and organizes warehouse storage including pallet consolidation and cleanliness of aisles Promote a safe workplace by performing all tasks in a safe and thoughtful manner in compliance with all rules, procedures, instructions, devices, equipment and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintain vigilance for any hazardous conditions or practices in the workplace and immediately report any unsafe condition or practice to your supervisor. Frequently required to work at heights of 20 feet or more. Physical Demands: Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basis The person in this position needs to wear appropriate safety clothing and shoes when needed. Loads/unloads materials Stacks/moves lumber Assists in assembling fence panels and other products using nail gun Attaches product tag labels to merchandise, material, or product with hand held industrial stapler machine Checks items for proper identification Reports quality deficiencies, shortages, and/or damaged goods Keeps record of inventory and check items for proper identification Ensures continued movement of lumber on conveyors Qualifications: High School diploma or GED preferred Previous production experience preferred Lumber experience a plus!
