Example Of What A Relief Driller does

  • Maintain and adjust machinery to ensure proper performance.
  • Dig holes, set forms, and mix and pour concrete, for foundations of steel or wooden derricks.
  • Connect sections of drill pipe, using hand tools and powered wrenches and tongs.
  • Remove core samples during drilling to determine the nature of the strata being drilled.
  • Examine and regulate operation of mud pumps to ensure circulation and consistency of drilling mud in well.
  • Bolt together pump and engine parts, and connect tanks and flow lines.
  • Can operate heavy machinery, extensive forklift experience moving equipment/tubulars/etc.
  • Clean and oil pulleys, blocks, and cables.
  • Work from the ground up floor hand, motor hand, Derrick hand, and Relief Driller on rig 134.
  • Assist rig floor crews to make up test string, tools and equipment.
  • Manage and approve all projects for final production.
  • Train crews, and introduce procedures to make drill work more safe and effective.
  • Monitor fluid levels and adjust accordingly.
  • Directed my crew in daily operations of horizontal, directional and vertical wells.
  • Rig up & Rig down air systems.
