Expert opinions on the best states for religious studies professors

  • Are there any particularly good places in the United States for religious studies professors to find work opportunities?

    Dominic Steavu

    Associate Professor, University of California

I don't think there are specific geographical areas in the US that offer more opportunities for graduates with religious studies degrees than others. Large urban centers, of course, are a good place to start because there are more jobs available where there are more people, but I would say that it's important to keep an open mind and be ready to travel to wherever the opportunities are. Sometimes there are very solid opportunities overseas, too. I started my career in Germany, where I spend almost three years before moving back to the States. I think it's crucial for job-seekers to consider all options.
