What Does A Relocation Specialist Do At NRT Realogy

* Facilitate and manage full service relocation assistance for Relocation clients and their employees/families.
* Initiate transferees, identify and counsel to services available in compliance w/ their corporate policy, conduct a thorough needs assessment
* Provide guidance and advocacy throughout the relocation process
* Facilitate all services by assigning appropriate suppliers, advise customers of available products and services including home sale, home purchase, household goods movement and paid rental tours.
* Provide follow-up feedback to the client (HR contact, recruiter, employment manager, etc.), transferee and supplier on progress throughout the entire relocation process
* Process invoices to appropriate service providers for referral fees, Complete SIS and submit to relocation closing department
* Maintain long-term communications and relationship with client
* Provide activity and productivity reports to management
* Attend employee benefit fairs when required
* Work with Account Mangers to identify additional services needed by existing corporate clients and recurring issues that need to be addressed by AM to client.
* Assist with group moves and/or other special assignments as needed

What Does A Relocation Specialist Do At Children's Rescue Fund

* Utilizing the Department of Homeless Services (DHS)
* Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES) complete families intake assessment, service plan/independent living plan, housing, next step conferences/transfers, incident reports, progress notes, etc.
* Utilizing the DHS Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES), review accessible information from Human Resource Administration, Administration for Children Services, Department of Probation, Department of Homeless Services, etc.
* Utilizing the DHS Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES) ensure that all information is updated in system in a timely fashion as required by DHS.
* Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with housing resources and advocacy groups such as NYCHA, HPD, Section 8, Supportive Housing and other organizations to share information on current and future housing resources and to assure that clients transition to permanent housing and reduce the length of time families are homeless.
* In collaboration with Relocation Support Program staff, coordinate and conduct Housing Empowerment Workshops to empower residents in their search for permanent housing and to provide information on housing.
* Monitor the submission and processing of clients’ housing applications to ensure clients’ timely access to all appropriate housing options.
* Research housing resources to increase clients’ housing options.
* Assess clients’ housing history and other relevant factors in order to assist caseworkers in the development of individual service plans.
* Ensure the timely collection, preparation and analysis of re-housing information to generate routine and as-needed reports, to evaluate program performance and to facilitate short and long-term planning for both individual clients and for re-housing services.
* Guide and prepare clients for interviews with landlords, building managers and tenant groups to ensure that they are able to represent their interests in the search for permanent housing.
* Assist clients in viewing and inspecting available housing, both public and private, to ensure they are relocated to appropriate and code-compliant housing.
* Advocate for and assist clients to obtain rent monies, leases and furniture grants, link with Lend
* A-Hand, and to monitor apartment repairs in process in order to expedite clients’ move to permanent housing.
* Facilitate additional groups, as designated, to address family issues, enhance life skills, and assist families in achieving self-sufficiency and a successful transition to permanent housing.
* Perform other duties and special projects as required including serving on-call for a one-week period each quarter.

Because of the wide range of skills used in different computer support jobs, there are many paths into the occupation. A bachelor’s degree is required for some computer support specialist positions, but an associate’s degree or postsecondary classes may be enough for others.


Education requirements for computer support specialists vary. Computer user support specialist jobs require some computer knowledge, but not necessarily a postsecondary degree. Applicants who have taken some computer-related classes are often qualified. For computer network support specialists, many employers accept applicants with an associate’s degree, although some prefer applicants to have a bachelor’s degree.

Large software companies that provide support to business users who buy their products or services often require a bachelor’s degree. Positions that are more technical are likely to require a degree in a field such as computer science, engineering, or information science, but for others, the applicant’s field of study is less important.

To keep up with changes in technology, many computer support specialists continue their education throughout their careers.


Certification programs are generally offered by vendors or from vendor-neutral certification providers. Certification validates the knowledge of and best practices required by computer support specialists. Companies may require their computer support specialists to hold certifications in the products the companies use.


Many computer support specialists advance to other information technology positions, such as network and computer systems administrators and software developers. Some become managers in the computer support services department. Some organizations provide paths for support specialists to move into other parts of the organization, such as sales. Important Qualities

Customer-service skills. Computer support specialists must be patient and sympathetic. They must often help people who are frustrated with the software or hardware they are trying to use.

Listening skills. Support workers must be able to understand the problems that their customers are describing and know when to ask questions to clarify the situation.

Problem-solving skills. Support workers must identify both simple and complex computer problems, analyze them, and solve them.

Speaking skills. Support workers must describe the solutions to computer problems in a way that a nontechnical person can understand.

Writing skills. Strong writing skills are useful for preparing instructions and email responses for employees and customers, as well as real-time web chat interactions.
