Pros of working at REM Minnesota

The clients.

Cons of working at REM Minnesota

Understaffed. Management retaliation for rocking the boat. Complaints dismissed. The clients are the only reason to work for REM Northstar. The staff that stay are dedicated to clients. Management tend to fill positions with bodies to cover shifts. People that try to make changes that will benefit quality of life get singled out then pushed out.

The connection made with clients

What do you like best about REM Minnesota's CEO and the leadership team?

Local leadership is a joke. The CEO doesn't have a clue.

I would hire an investigation company to actually work the floor for a substantial amount of time to witness firsthand how things are done.Local management tend to sugarcoat situations when visited by corporate.

I didn't. From what I'm aware of they hire everyone that passes the criminal background check.

How does your compensation at REM Minnesota compare to the industry average?

It is much much lower.

What's the diversity at REM Minnesota like?

Below standards.

What brings you the most joy at REM Minnesota?

Being able to improve the quality of life of clients. Watching them smile when I get to work. They are so limited to community activities for so many reasons. It's nice to see them enjoy an outing that they may not be aware is an option for them or experiencing something they haven't done for a while.

Pros of working at REM Minnesota

The clients and the few staff that actually care

Cons of working at REM Minnesota

The staff who don’t care and neglect the clients, Management who refuses to do anything that doesn’t benefit them, HR who doesn’t care about the clients and allows the staff to neglect the clients by marking their investigations as “inconclusive”, work-life balance is non-existent, understaffed with little effort to find staff

The clients

How would you improve REM Minnesota's culture?

I would improve REM Minnesota by closing the doors completely or restructuring from the ground up but the corruption goes all the way to the top of the ladder they don’t care about you or the people they “support”

What brings you the most joy at REM Minnesota?

The clients

How does your compensation at REM Minnesota compare to the industry average?

The compensation received from REM is below average non-salary supervisors make as much as DSP’s at other companies and the salary supervisors will make you pay for things required for the clients to survive like food and necessities and they will NOT reimburse you for those things nor will they get them for your home with the company card which is designated for those things
