Licenses & Certifications:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), licensed professional counselor, or licensed psychologist required.

Position Summary
The Community Mental Health Therapist provides culturally responsive mental health and support services to children, youth, and families in community-based settings throughout San Francisco. Clients and their families are referred to us by Family Resource Centers (FRCs,) SFUSD, SF Department of Public Health and internally from other YMCA programs. The role combines mental health consultation, direct therapeutic services, and referral linkage to local resources. Service intensity ranges from outpatient counseling to intensive interventions that may include case management, service coordination, court advocacy, and family support. court advocacy and any other kinds of family support to serve the specific needs of each of our families.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Service Delivery
Provide individual, family, and group therapy in community-based settings (schools, homes, and FRCs).
Deliver both outpatient and intensive services (including ISCS programs for youth on probation).
Maintain a minimum average of 10.5 billable therapeutic hours per week on community mental health days.
On Family Resource Center days, provide 5 direct service hours per day, with the remaining time dedicated to documentation, supervision, or administrative tasks.
Manage a balanced caseload to meet productivity expectations while accounting for no-shows or cancellations.
Case Management and Client Support
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
Coordinate referrals and linkages to community resources and support programs.

Documentation and Reporting

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The 150-hour long internship will offer participants the opportunity to receive on-the-job training, professional development curriculum, and support identifying and transitioning into long-term employment. Centered around the SPY Community Garden, this internship opportunity will highlight food justice, community-building, and healing.
The first 3 months of the internship will take place at the SPY Community Garden on Venice Blvd, where interns will learn about gardening, urban farming, landscaping, cooking and more. The second 3 months of the internship will take place at a partner business of the intern's choosing, in industries like food service, landscaping, nurseries and more. Throughout the program, interns will receive one-on-one support sessions with the Intern Liaison, as well as group based professional development classes.
This is the ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in developing their workforce skills.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Support the SPY Garden Team in growing the SPY Garden (planting, watering, weeding, composting, harvesting, distributing).
Authentic participation in activities and discussions around garden-related topics, garden walks, and workshops.
Help plan and co-facilitate garden-related workshops for youth and community members.
Support management in tracking plant and volunteer data, as needed.
Attend SPY Garden team meetings.
