Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Risk Engineer (or Fleet Safety Professional) specializing in auto liability risk management to join our Risk Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing risks associated with light vehicle fleets, heavy vehicle fleets, and mixed vehicle fleets. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience with managing telematics data, dash camera data, driver coaching initiatives, and related technologies. This role involves evaluating and mitigating risks, developing safety protocols, and providing expert guidance to our clients to ensure the safe and efficient operation of their fleets. This role will be dedicated to our Transportation & Sharing Economy division - including primary truck insureds, excess truck insureds, ride share platforms, tow truck operations, peer-to-peer rental apps, and various other auto exposures in the gig economy and/or specialty auto space.
What you will do for C&F:
Able to effectively engage with clients in order to promote C&F's capabilities while displaying a culture of proactive safety management.
Strong knowledge of telematics systems and ability to assist clients with implementation, monitoring and reporting.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for clients, identifying potential hazards and recommending appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on best practices for fleet management, including vehicle maintenance, driver training, and safety protocols.
Collaborate with underwriting and claims teams to analyze loss data and identify trends, providing insights to improve risk selection and pricing.
Conduct on-site surveys and audits of client fleets to assess risk exposures and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Prepare detailed risk assessment reports and presentations for clients, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
Individual will work closely with underwriting, data science, and the actuarial team to steer improvements within the customer base.
Stay current with industry trends/news and communicate the information with key stakeholders.
Develop strong working relationships with all levels of colleagues including senior leadership.
What you will bring to C&F:
Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience preferred, either insurance or transportation industries.
In-depth knowledge of risk assessment techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements related to commercial auto fleets
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, time management and organizational capabilities with a strong customer service focus while building solid relationships.
Ability to multitask and function in a fast paced environment.
Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

The base salary range for this position is 157,000 - 238,000 CAD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.

Learn and Adapt
Get familiarized with Cloudera's products and services end-to-end and gain a full appreciation for the product and development lifecycle.
Understand our open source and proprietary ecosystem, and identify areas for improvement in terms of current CVE remediation efforts.
Design and Development:
Identify tooling and frameworks for improving developer productivity - AI/ML Tools that can expedite in remediating CVE fixes
Design and develop POCs to enterprise-class solutions to enable the delivery of high-quality remediation across the entire customer-facing Cloudera stack.
Process:
Work alongside the product security team to evaluate and enhance existing security tools (SCA, SAST, DAST, etc.) and explore new technologies to improve vulnerability detection and remediation speed/accuracy.
Integrate enhanced security scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
Contribute to the development of a proactive dependency management strategy.
Participate in defining and enforcing clear CVE SLAs and accountability.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Security, Engineering Component Teams, QE, Release Engineering, and Customer Support.
Contribute to regular reporting on CVE debt reduction, SLA adherence, and other key metrics.
Actively participate in daily stand-ups and other team meetings.
We're excited about you if you have:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5-7 years of experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on security and vulnerability remediation as a big plus.
Strong proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages: Python, Go, TypeScript, React JS.
Proficiency with vulnerability management CVE tooling such as Aquasec, Triaging, and JIRA ticketing.
Hands-on experience with tools like Docker, Maven, SonarQube, Harness, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
Experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres/RDS).
Familiarity with cloud essentials, particularly Kubernetes and AWS.
Experience contributing to open-source projects is a plus.

Position Overview:
As a Staff Observability Engineer you'll be driving the vision and roadmap for Observability in Alteryx One. Help design, architect, build and manage the Observability platform for metrics, logs and tracing. You'll also be the chief evangelist with stakeholders on Observability and SRE concepts and practices (e.g. SLOs). Help create a center of excellence for Observability within the company.
Primary Responsibilities:
Drive the Observability architecture roadmap for metrics, logs, and tracing systems for Alteryx One.
Architect, design, and ensure implementation of the Observability system for Alteryx One.
Define, drive, and evangelize SLOs (Service Level Objectives) across critical services, ensuring alignment between engineering reliability goals and business SLAs.
Partner with SRE, product, and platform teams to translate business outcomes into measurable reliability targets that are actionable and observable.
Evangelize tools and practices with engineering, architecture and customer service teams as a subject matter expert.

Qualifications:
In-depth experience designing at scale monitoring, logging and tracing systems for production products.

5+ years expertise with metrics, time-series, logging and/or distributed tracing.

2+ years mentoring and training staff members.
2+ years experience working with configuration management tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible).

Working knowledge of SDLC concepts.
Compensation:
Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
The salary range for this role in the United States is $166,375 - $212,000.
