What is a renewable energy project manager and how to become one

Renewable energy project managers oversee engineering initiatives utilizing renewable energy resources. They communicate with stakeholders and team members, coordinating various phases of the work. They set up strategies and goals for the projects, create the timeline for the work, make sure the project is carried out within the allocated budget, and oversee the work of the members of the project team.

Working in this position, it will be your responsibility to supervise the work of contractors. You will contact suppliers or vendors, survey sites, and assess the feasibility of the projects. You will draw up cost estimates and manage operations related to the project. You will have administrative tasks as well and you might be involved in the marketing efforts related to the project.

A degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field is often necessary if you want to be considered for this role. Experience in project management is often expected as well. Passion for the mission of the project, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a talent for organizing tasks will be your most important assets on the job.
