SUMMARY: The Field Service Technician provides customer service in person and/or by telephone to customers in and around the greater Boston area. Technicians will also help fulfill the needs of the maintenance schedule when needed by performing preventative maintenance on parking access, as well as software and/or hardware. Works with upper-level support to troubleshoot/setup/configure car access systems to include LAN (Local Area Networks). Effectively understands and troubleshoots basic setup of credit card configuration within the PARCS (parking access & revenue control system) network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform field repairs on parking access system and building access systems, software and/or hardware related
Troubleshoot and correct problems on devices/equipment, down to board level, low voltage
Correct/fixes; minor to complex software issues on parking/access systems
Understand and troubleshoot the entire setup of a SKIDATA network (LAN)
Properly identifies all network devices on a LAN (router, modem, switch etc.)
Can properly use handheld devices like, but not limited to, multi meter, Network tester, toner, etc.
Understand basic relay logic
Works with upper-level support to setup/configure firewall, router, and other network devices
Provides effective customer service, to internal and external customers
Properly identifies when higher level support is needed. Work closely with peers and support team to ensure customer expectations are met
Effectively execute troubleshooting instructions from higher level support
Properly maintain vehicle status and maintenance, as required
Properly maintains his/her inventory levels, by properly transacting in ERP (SNOW) system
Communicates effectively with service coordinator, advisors, and service management team
Responsible for transactions for assigned work orders (WOs) in ERP system on a per WO basis (parts and labor), also to include maintenance checklist, as required by existing processes
Perform monthly preventative maintenance - scheduled inspection, cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting of the equipment
Other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
This is an experienced position within the Service Department. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license; have and maintain a driving record clean of any major or numerous violations
Must be able to drive to field / customer locations to perform field work
Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, SQL, Windows OS 7, 10 and above, and network firewall configurations
Must possess aptitude to learn new technologies
The ability to work independently all while keeping others informed of your processes and progress via multiple avenues - including ERP System, email, and/or phone
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be able to complete SKIDATA technical certified training courses - within 24 months; or has completed required certified courses in the technical career track. Specific product/equipment and software training supplied by SKIDATA
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent and two (2) years of training/experience in related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good skills in the use of hand tools required - experience using ERP software a plus.

The general hours of the position are Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.); however, the expectations are that you be flexible to work as the needs of the business require. This may require occasional overtime; working on Saturday/weekends; and/or before or after the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Technicians are required to be on an on-call rotation for one week per month. Supervisor will give as much advance notice as possible and try to evenly distribute hours based on business needs among the employees with skills, knowledge and ability for the work that needs to be accomplished.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
• High school diploma or GED required
• 2+ years of work experience, including at least 1 year of relevant experience*, or 1 year of experience at STERIS. All experience must be verifiable.
• Must be able to meet flexible schedules with early/late hours and occasional overnight/out of state travel, based on Customer and business needs.
• Must be able to pass a DOT medical/ physical exam and comply with all DOT regulations.
• Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (CDL not required) and maintain required vaccines.
• Ability to drive DOT regulated vehicle and conduct basic box truck safety checks.
• Must be at least 21 years old to meet the FMCSA age requirement for commercial interstate driving.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and push instrument carts ranging from 10-150 pounds at times.

Pay range for this opportunity is $24.00 - $27.00/hour. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

About You
High School Diploma or GED
A minimum of 3-5 years of previous experience as an equipment/facilities technician within a small to medium-sized manufacturing facility.
Proficient in using hand, power, shop, and diagnostic tools.
Excellent documentation skills for equipment and facility repair data.
Experience in the semiconductor industry, e-beam equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, schematics, vacuum systems, and PLC (Process Logic Controller) is desired.
Examples of systems and equipment to service and repair:
CHA Electron beam evaporation systems, Thick film screen printing machines, Disco Dicing machines and cut water support systems, Ferric and Cupric Chloride etching systems, Photo patterning equipment including Laminating, Exposure, and Development systems, Automated Electrolytic Plating line, High-Temperature BTU Furnaces, as well as various facility-related items including air handlers, air compressors, air filtration units, etc.

This individual must show growth within six months to one year before moving on to junior technician status. The Apprentice will be evaluated every three months and rotate between technicians to ensure diverse training.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist senior technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial kitchen equipment
Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues using tools, meters, and specialized instruments
